Thread: Foundation to Medicine

My cousin just applied to SGU and the admissions office said they are considering him for the Foundation to Medicine course, does anyone know anything about this program? Is financial aid available? It sounds a lot like Ross MERP.

do a search, there were a number of threads a few months ago about the FOM.

not sure exactly what MERP actually entails, but briefly I believe the FOM is offered to people who apply for the MD program, but are just a little shy of qualifying for direct admission, so they do a term of MD classes as way of proving the can suceed at the MD program- I believe that they have to maintain a certain GPA for the term and then they can start the MD program the following term.

He was also offered a place in MERP, there is financial aid for MERP but I wanted to know if there is some financial aid for this program as well. SGU is clearly the stronger program looking at its match list, I am advising him to go to SGU if he can do it this way.
