The best way for you to find out about the Lance Aux Epines busing is to give it a try. Ride it to the end (University Club), turn around, and come back to campus.
Don't quote me, but anything on the main road to campus (True Blue) will probably cost $800USD+. Since you're already in Grenada I'm a bit surprised that you ask if there's a grocery store in Lance Aux Epines. You'll still need to run to Spiceland Mall / Food Fair / CK's to get your groceries. From a spouse's perspective, busing to the grocery store from Lance Aux Epines is a pain. You'll need two buses (LAE to the Republic Bank roundabout and then catch a Grand Anse bus from across the street at the Texaco). Reverse the process to get back home - but factor in the wait time for the less-frequent LAE buses... There are a few times of day that a bus travels directly from Grand Anse to LAE, but they might not jive with your schedule. A car would probably be a much more useful asset to you living in LAE than if you were living in True Blue. Useful but not always required. It depends on where in LAE you end up living. Check around on SGU Post (Housing) for the most up-to-date listings of available apartments - sometimes even with recent photos.

Hey ModernDayGilligan, I think we met the first night I arrived on the island! You where at the PD lab, and another first termer fresh off the airplane and I where looking around for food, but all you guys had was sodas!
Ya, I haven't really explored as much as I wanted too. But excluding the first week tours, I have been to the Grand Anse beach twice, and into the city twice, so I think I have a lot of other first termers beat, heh. I ask some of the senior termers some questions, but I don't know to many upper termers. My soccer team is mostly first termers, and most of the ruby people are first termers as well, although there are some second termers. The terms seem pretty insular to me, but thats cool, I doubt i'll know half of the people in my term, lol. Ya, the plan after midterm is to go with a few other first termers interested in off campus housing and spend 3-4 hours checking out Lance Aux Epines. |

Most people who lived in LAE tended to have cars. There are lots of nice houses and apartments and people who lived out there all hung out together and had parties, etc.
I lived in Grand Anse because I wanted to be close to the bus route to school, I wanted to be able to walk to laundry and shopping, and I wanted a "busy" place where I could walk around at night without worrying. And I also wanted my spouse to be close to stuff he might want to do without having to get a car. We probably missed out on some of the fun spontaneous parties but we were ok with it. Didn't need more excuses to drink! |

Sounds like you've got yourself a good plan, aspiring_in_alaska!
Alaska... I only remember meeting one person from Alaska during orientation, so that must be you!
