I think there was an announcement in the member's center about some sort of network upgrade and downtime today... I can't get on sgu.edu either...

lol! I think they're installing those new switch(es). It's been very hit and miss for Orthonut today. But Orthonut has definately paid her tuition ( - I accidentally looked at the loan statement-the one with all of them added up together, it's kinda distressing. *sigh*)

I wish they would put up an update so that we know how long it's going to take until we return to full service.

Because then there wouldn't be anything for the IT guys to do-did you SEE the length of the line of people yesterday? I feel sooo sorry for the guys down here. They get to make none of the decisions but feel the brunt of our student wrath when things don't go right.

Yesterday Orthonut managed to read 1/2 way through one whole email! I'm so excited.

Yet another reason I prefer a computer based email client application(Outlook Express, etc...) to webmail.

Agreed. Plus, I don't know about their new webmail (since they haven't upgraded mine) but the old one really sucked.

Often I couldn't read messages and had to hit "reply with quote" to be able to see what appeared to be a blank e-mail. Long live Outlook (one MS product I really love for its organizer, etc.).

Having said that, Gmail is so great that I've taken to using it to compose/read messages over Outlook. It struck me one day that I was doing that which was an indication of how good it is. The new Hotmail is better than the old but still about 3-5x slower than Gmail.

Sorry for the OT so, uh, yeah...SGU's webmail sucks.

Hope you guys get internet back up soon. Funny story is that I haven't connected to Firefly since last year before I went to St. Vincent. Which means I didn't ever have to deal with their new security thingy. I didn't know internet was down yesterday and I chose then of all days to try getting online on campus. When I couldn't, I chalked it up to the new security verification. Guess I'll have to try again when this is all worked out.
