THanks Dr. X. Soooo...any rotations in another country are automatically considered green book? Does SGU have any rotations in Canada? I'll do a search too. I think I read that there is a Carib school that does rotate in Canada. Anyone know which one?

As far as I have been able to determine SGU does not do any rotations in Cananda, nor do the other caribbean schools.

Can you do all of your rotations in the UK, cores and electives?

yep. but im not sure if you can do everything in one hospital though.
chek out the SGU website for its affiliation with the UK hospitals, and under each one, it will tell ou what cores and electives are offered

Yes, all rotations done at schools accredited by their local accrediting body in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, India, Phillipines, and many other countries are considered greenbook automatically. There is little reason for this other than tradition, as the "big 4" caribbean medical schools are much better in quality than many medical schools in places like eastern european or developing countrie's medical schools, and we do all our rotations in actual U.S. teaching hospitals, which are the best in the world and where we will be doing residency.
This highlights the fact that U.S. medical education rules and legislation are set up expressly to discriminate against (chiefly)N. American students who attend off-shore, for-profit schools like SGU. The reasoning for the discrimination given is that it's done for quality control in medical education, but the truth is that is is about politics - U.S. schools don't want competition, especially in their own back yard from "inferior" people.

Saba has some rotations available in Canada, mainly in the eastern provinces. Several of my classmates are going there in a couple of months. I don't know if SGU has rotations available in Canada or not.

Thanks for the help.
SGU has much better clinical rotations than other schools. 40K more, not 100K.

Hey guys, i went through this same confusion, you wonder if the money is worth it when there are cheaper schools, in the end i believed that the education i would receive here in sgu especially the clinical aspect would be superior. its just one of those decisions you gotta make for yourself, good luck with the decision.

i wouldn't necessarily say sgu's clinical rotations are better than other schools, since we rotate in some of the same hospitals as Ross, Saba, and AUC, - but it seems(as referred in an older thread) we have more ACGME accredited rotations , esp in peds and ob/gyn.

Also it seem that sgu it is easier to stay at one hospital for all rotations and to be able to do cores during the 3rd year (as opposed to having to take a core in 4th year because the space isn't available).
