Surge protector? locking up items?

is a surge protector necessary when using my laptop? also, is there a place in the dorms to safely lock up items (like a laptop)?

Yes, surge protector is a very good idea for the laptop.

Don't know about new dorms on True Blue. Grand Anse dorm rooms have no "locked" drawers or anything like that. What I did was I bought a hinge and installed on one of the closet drawers so that I can put a pad lock on the drawer -- it wont' deter the determined thief, but it was better than nothing.

New True Blue Dorms

There is no dedicated space in the new true blue dorms to lock anything up. However there are holes drilled in the desk (attached to the wall) that are meant for power cords, etc. I got one of those cable computer locks, passed it through the holes and secured it that way.
