Thread: What are my chances of acceptance....

Hey guys

Im a student from Quebec, Canada doing college in health sciences. My GPA is low (2.5), but Ive been sick for the past year, and ive lost confidence in myself. Ive started to work hard this year (2 semesters) and I got a high GPA (3.8). I am doing volunteering at hospitals, community, etc.
What are my chances of getting in......MD program

* plz note that i have gotten a INcomplete Mark (Medical) for a science course, adue to sickness, nd ive done well since then in school.

I'm not a student so I don't have an answer for you. Why not call the school and ask your question, you could contact them through their website. You could also do a search on this topic. Good Luck.

None of us here are on the admissions board so noone can give you a concrete answer. Here's my 2 cents. Have you taken the MCAT? If you have not, you should do so as soon as possible. Once you find out your score, you will have a better picture of whether you are SGU material or not. The avg. stats. of those who got accepted in fall '05 are: GPA 3.35, MCAT 26. I don't know about this year, but from what I heard from my counselor it was more competitive this year with 20% more applicants than in '05.
Also, remember that SGU looks at the overall applicant, so your extracariculars and volunteering count too. In conclusion, to answer your question directly, just apply and found out!

Where did you get those stats for Fall 2005? i'D like to find out. Thanks.

On their website, they still talk about the stats for Fall 2004 in their FAQ

the school doesn't want to hear excuses. 2.5 is very low don't bother applying. I guess it's nursing school for you!!
