Thread: How to download lectures from Angel.

Hey guys,

I am really annoyed with the schools incapability in providing students with necessary tools, and their eagerness in equipping us with obsolete and useless equipment (Wireless card, MS office, etc). We have to get online to read or lectures on angel, yet we have no internet connection in our dorm rooms. Hence we need to download lectures when we are online and study them offline in our rooms. However I have not been successful in doing so.
I would greatly appreciate any information in regards to solving this issue.

if the lectures are in flash files, u cant dl them. unless you have a specific software for it.
you can only dl files in powerpoint files.

they have been doing this, especially the anatomy dept which includes embryo for legal and copyright issues and rights.

and internet should come soon hopefully, in the mean time, relax and calm down...its really not that bad not to have internet in the rooms.

Yeah there is a reason you can't download the lectures, it's because the school doesn't want you to download them.. During 2nd term the physio dept. will let you download their lectures, and during 4th term they don't even post the lectures on angel. Just go to class and take notes, I guess that's one of the advanteges of actually going to class!! Also internet is being installed in the rooms as I type.. and many people choose not to study in their rooms, there is plenty of space in the library, or lecture halls where there is internet.

Just know the packets that you get and you will do fine, the power points or flash slides in lecture aren't that important. most of them are just images anyway and the prof just talks about the image for like 2min so unless you record the lectures it's kind of pointless to see the images by themselfs...

and for term 1 classes, all exam questions come from the course companion or the handouts. know those and you will be golden.

1st...breathe....there are number of reasons why you can't download the lecture-mainly is that they include a number of pix and figures from various sources, there are copyright issues and the best way to avoid them is to make the lecture not downloadable.

you CAN have internet in your dorm room- just call Cand W- they'll set up dsl for in in a few weeks!!

I identify with your frustration about not having offline access to lectures (there's just so long you can spend in Bourne or Founders before it gets old); there is a workaround & it's a bit tedious. But I studied in my room & read entirely from powerpoints - specially embryology with its extensive image-heavy slides - so I had to have them with me, and the tedium was definitely worth it for me, specially coz I'd get an extra exposure to the material while I was extracting it.

Hey, I'm not advocating anyone violate copyright laws or school rules. Would I ever recommend one use school's wireless for Voip? Noooowaaaay!
I mean, seriously!

Now with the internet already starting to be made available...u might not be so frustrated with the online lectures...unless ofcourse u are stuck in a letter dorm like E-Z like me....where u need patience for the internet installation....as for the wireless card and MS Office....now you can return them....so ENJOY!
