    HELP!!!! about admissions

hey guys...Im sooo worried...i am taking the mcats in less than 48 hours and I feel like Im overwhelmed and might not do so hot...

Does anyone think I will have a chance to get accepted to SGU with a 3.0 overall science gpa, 3.3 overall gpa and 24 mcats???

I want to be a doctor soooo bad. My extracurriculars are strong...im just not a good test taker

And also my grade trends show that i screwed up my freshman year semester but after that my grades went up...so thats why i have a lower gpa...

Help!!! Do i have a shot at SGU???

I assume you are taking the MCAT for the second time? Or are you just assuming a 24 something score??

    Whats medspeak for "chill pill?"

wow. first off, just chill. Your biggest enemy on any exam is yourself. Worry about things you can control - like getting enough sleep the night before the MCAT and staying healthy. Getting accepted to SGU or any other med school is not something you can control, so leave that up to the powers that be, who get paid to make those decisions. You concentrate on doing well on that exam and taking deep breaths. Freaking out even before you go to that exam or send in your med school app isn't going to help anyone. SGU looks at more than stats. Even if you had a 4.0 and 40 on the MCAT, if you interview like a 5 yearold, they won't take you. (well maybe if it was a 3.8). But you're stats certainly don't preclude you from applying, in my opinion as someone who has absolutely nothing to do with SGU admissions.

    well actually..

Well actually its my first time takin the mcats...and i did self study instead of taking a kaplan or other study course...

I took many exams..and i seem to be making so many careless mistakes even though i know soo much of the background material its crazy!!!

And thank you for your advice...i will try to remain calm...

Im just worried that my exam on the mcat is the cutoff for myacceptance or interview...once i get the interview i can impress them very well...

Its all i breathe and dream of...is becoming a doctor...so its devestating to not see a reflecting score...all i can do is have faith...i dont know

Roxy, relax. If you really are determined to become a doctor then you will make it. If you have a 3.3 and a 24 MCAT then you'll be borderline for SGU but there are plenty of other Carib schools out there and several of them are way more interested in your credit score than your MCAT's or GPA when it comes to statistics.

Ah! now i remember. Alprazolam (Xanax), Midazolam (Versed), and diazepam (valium) are your classic "chill pills."

If you know your stuff, just do the best you can, do the exam, and when you're done with a section, if there's time left, go back over the exam.

Also, use the trick of skipping the questions you don't know at first and coming back to them later if there's time rather than spending time struggling to figure them out and never getting around to the questions you know cold.

    Good luck!
