Customs checkpoint in San Juan before flying to GND?

I'm flying to San Juan on Jet Blue before flying to GND on Liat on separate tickets. Do they make you go through customs at San Juan before letting you fly off to GND? If so, how much time do you need between flights in San Juan? I'm worried about getting my luggage off Jet Blue, through customs, and onto the Liat flight in time.

    THX.!

No customs in puerto rico (because you technically haven't left the US yet.) So you have to get yout bags from jetBlue and then go to the coubter a check in with LIAT? And you have to check in to LIAT atleast an hour or so before your flight? And its usually about 1/2 hour before you land and you get your luggage? How much time do you have right now between the 2? And i assume you're flying to san juan from a US city? otherwise you'd have to clear US customs.

that is not wise to leave yourself with just over 1 hr between flights.

you will need at least 30 minutes to claim your bags and then you have to walk to the LIAT counter and get on line and re-check your bag and then you can board.

that itself should be about 1 hr already.
give yourself at least 2 hrs. better be safe than sorry.

Hmm... the caribbean star agent told me otherwise. She told me that there is no customs when you get OFF the plane in San Juan. However, when you check in to fly to sequential islands eventually getting to Grenada, you have to go through customs. I'm not sure if she meant when we get into Grenada (b/c I know there is customs there). All I know is what she told me and that is why she said I have a 4 h layover in San Juan, so I have adequate time to go through customs when I check into the caribbean star flight. Hope this helps!
If it were easy anyone could do it...
