I think you should cal them and let them know that your waiting for another school as well and the wil speed the process up. A freind did that and they told him to fax the acceptance letter form the opther school and then SGU said he was acepted the next day.
What were your stats by the way(gpa, MCAt)? Thanks |

I did, but they want me to do more volunteering and other extracurricular activities and then try again. I'll be 30 this November, and I really don't think I have time to waste. I also don't care to be the best of the best of the best of the best, I just want to be a doctor.

trust me, 30 isn't that old and if waiting one year gets you into a US school - its worth it. apply the US schools one more time AND apply to SGU then as well - if youdon't get in, then head down to GND - that way you'll know that you tried everything you could to get into a US school and won't regret it later.

c13, I agree with the previous posters. definitely try reapplying to US schools. Your stats are still quite competitive. I've a friend who just recently reapplied. She's also turning 30 in a couple of months. Anyway, my point is she reapplied with an MCAT of 27R and a gpa of 3.8 and she got into UCSF med. Like the others have suggested....all you need is a bit more volunteering and extracurriculars and you'd be set.
Volunteer in organizations or hospital programs that you'd enjoy and think worthwhile. Not only would you be earning volunteer hours you'd also actually enjoy earning those hours. 30 isn't too old. It's not the age that should matter but, rather obtaining your passion. Again, think about reapplying to US schools. I'm sure you'd get in the next cycle. Good Luck. ![]()

In addition to what everyone else said, I know that US school admissions board (in general) look highly at "OLDER" (not that 30 is old... I'm 26) applicants because they are normally more mature, know what they REALLY want to do in life because they experience "it all", and are normally more serious. With stats like that you should have no problem. Just get more clinical exposure to show that you KNOW what you are getting into. That's all they want to see. They just want to know that you KNOW what the medical field is really like based on real life expeirence and not by watching ER or Grey's anatomy (those shows suck.... I love HOUSE so much better). it is worth the wait... trust me! Life is easier graduating from a US school... much much easier!
Hope this helps!
