First Aid for Step 1 (book)...or other 1st year supplements

Does anyone think purchasing First Aid for Step 1 early is a good idea? I’ve heard that the book can be helpful as early as first term.

Any other recommended supplements for first year? I'd like to buy from Amazon now since I can score free shipping.

Getting FA early is a good idea only if you will use it. It is commonly recommended to getting it early and then annotating it as if it was your notebook. When it comes to Step I review, you'd be way ahead of the curve. Other supplements would be class specific and depends on you. Hop on down to the local bookstore and peruse through the study guides for all the topics you'll need for the Step I (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Immunology, Behavioral Science, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology) and see what you like. Whatever study guides you use, annotate as you go through the respective classes and it will really help you later. It would really help trying to get a hold of a copy of the Kaplan lecture notes and review/annotate those as you go too but you'll have to get those from upper-termers or eBay or something as those books aren't actually products you can pick up at a bookstore.

1st aid is good, but dont study from it. annotate it throughout the term.

BRS series is good also, but it depends on which class.

the USMLE roadmap for neurosci is a pretty good book also.

you might also wanna check out the riducuosly made simple series.

note:some books work better for others, so if you can browse thro a book at a local barnes noble or something first before you decide to purchase one

Great book for review. Systems based.

FA 2006 is more systems based than the previous editions.
