Thread: Apartment Hunting ... Need Help Please

Hi, I’m looking for up to date information on apartment complexes around campus. Are there any decent complexes within walking distance or a short bus ride? I would like to avoid needing a car. I’ve got the off campus list from the school already, but without having visited, it’s tough to determine how far places are from the school and what reputation those places have. If anyone can recommend decent/nice complexes that are do-able with walking or a short bus ride, please let me know the name and approximate distance from the campus. If you would prefer to PM, feel free.

Also, is there a “looking for a roommate” or “rental postings” board somewhere on here that I missed?

everything will be about 5min away by bus or car. Most if not all the nice apts. will already be taken by the 2nd and 4th termers, so it will be really hard to find a place. than again there are a lot of new places being build right outside campus but they're about $1000 a month for a 1 bedroom/studio, plus you will probably spend about $150-200 a month on electricity. I would highly recomend living on campus, untill you find roommates and get a 2 or 3 bedroom place off campus. Unless you have a family that you're bringing with you, or don't care if you spend more money. As for particular places to rent, all of the students are home for the summer so it will be very hard for you to obtain phone numbers or recomendations from actual students. Go with the SGU list, the only put apts that are recomended by students on there.

ohh you would want to look into the True Blue, or Grand Anse neighborhoods, those are a lot close to the school than Lance Aux Pines.

Check out Rohit's apartments - they are just outiside of the main campus gates on the left hand side; the one just past the green complex with the brick wall. He's a great landlord and the rent was decent $1000 US for a 2 bed two bath. I can't remember his number but i'm sure if you go onto the complex and ask around, you can get his #. highly recommended

I live at Rohit's apartments and have been there since Jan 05 and when I left in May they were full......they actually fill up in the first month or so into the term. 2 bedroom is now $1200, but they are huge. Mine is 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom. If anyone wants his number PM. He is a great landlord

If you are referring to Rohit's apts, no there are no floor models or online viewing. Unfortunately, there is no uniformity in the way the rooms are setup or arranged. Nonetheless, most of the rooms are quite sizeable with most (all?) rooms having private bathrooms and showers with full-size beds.

When I left R&C Enterprise apartments in Grand Anse, he had several 2 bedroom and studio apt's available. They are right above the 10 dollar store in GA, near the bus stop. I think the contact is on the housing list. Mr. Sam or Sam (Something) is the contact I believe since he's the landlord and I forget his full name. It isn't the best place to live, but it's decent and it's in an extremely convenient location. Noise can be a problem though but it shouldn't be a big deal if you study on campus. I paid $600 base rent for the studio. Check them out if you can't find anything else.
