    Converter?

What type of converter (220V to 110V) should I buy? Is it parallel flat? I am having trouble to find a converter that can support a grounded surge protector in CA. Does anybody know where I can find one?

as said above converter is for short term use only. You are looking for a transformer that will be plugged in all the time and which you can connect your powerstrip to. try doing a google search for a transformer, or open up your yellow pages and call up some electronic specialty stores. also you will have to add up the wattage for all the things you want to plug into it before buying one.. for exam if you want to charge your ipod, digital camera, keep your computer pluged in, external hard drive, and computer speakers. 500Watts is enough juice. if you want to plug in a microwave or a George forman you will need over about 1500watts.

Better to buy a transformer when you get here, they are pretty cheap here. And mind you they can be quite heavy, and you really wanna save the space in your luggage for all the other necessities
