International student and Visa

I am an international student that graduated from a U.S school this may. I just got accepted to SGU medical school. Can someone please tell me how hard is it to obtain a visa to return back to the U.S. My family is in the U.S and I would need to visit once in a while before the clinical years. Also how hard is it to get a visa when you are ready to do your clinicals.
P.S I am not a Canadian

I have the same question. I think I read in the forum that as long as you are not from Pakistan or Iran, things would be fine? Provided that you have all the right documents.

We met with an immigration officer from Barbados this past term in St. Vincent. Basically it is your responsibility to get a visa. The school does not assist you in getting one. Before you come, I would recommend getting/applying for a ten year visa to the US as your best bet for visiting. For clinicals, you enter on your visitor's visa and the school is supposed to supply you with a letter that you can give immigration that will state that you are entering the country for medical training and you get a longer stay then the 6 months you might be stamped with regularly. Of course your visa does not gaurantee you entry into the US for visits. The immigration officer can turn you away anyway! My husband is international student and he has been hassled almost every time he comes to the states with his ten year visa. They always let him in at the end! good luck.

for clinicals, you'll need a b-1 visa which is renewed ever 6 months and not difficult to get. As for visas when residency comes around, it limits your options as to where you can apply, but getting a j-1 is not that difficult, and h1b a little tougher. Why not apply for a green card right now, so that when residency rolls around, you wont have to deal with the HA of applying for a visa?

applying for a green card? Are you talking about the lottery or can you apply for one outside that.
