    GradPlus loan progress

    Hello,
Has anyone heard anymore news about the GradPlus loans? I was told by Bayshore that it was still in the works a few weeks ago. Then last week I called to check on how I should proceed and was told an email would go out to explain where the process was at. I haven't gotten it yet though.

So does anyone know more than that? Is it still likely to happen for the fall, or should I get ready to apply for a private loan in the meantime? I'm a first termer BTW.

i wish i knew as well (dont really want to go private if i can avoid it...)
The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can do that, and live that way, you really are a wise man.

no way to avoid private loans unless you are rich.
the fed loans can only cover up to 18,500/yr the rest either gonna be private or your own pocket

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone on the forums would have an answer to your question. The only people to definitively know (and they don't sound all that definite) would be the FinAid people...

Personally, I have applied for a private loan, and should the GradPLUS come through, I will cancel that and re-apply for the new gov't loan (jeez, Jaywalk, where have you been? Do a search!) :-P

Just some add'l advice: Shop around for your private loan -- Ed-Invest (the company the school likes to push... hard), wants to charge 9.78% plus a 6% origination fee. With KeyBank it's only 7.58% with no origination fee.

    Update

here's the latest update to situation as of last week:

I was told the school's app for GradPlus is still pending and may not go through for the fall term. So the Finaid office advised me to turn in my private loan app to make sure I have funds to cover me in August.

So If you haven't put one in yet and need the funds, get on it.
