the dodgy dock, but if you are staying at true blue bay - its right there(stewart went back to england after Ivan). Ask for stewarts, they know what you're talking about.

Theoretically, you need a temporary student ID and parking pass to 1) get onto and 2) park on campus. Ask the guard at the security gate when you enter - they should have them right there, or he may direct you to the security office in the rear of the Z-building (door is marked "Locks and Keys"). Depending on the guard's mood, he may just let you in without the temp ID. If you really want to call ahead, Security's phone number is 473-444-3898.

Well so far so great (except for my sunburn which i woke up shivering brrrr and ouCH!) Driving in GND is def an adventure with no street signs and going the wrong way around the round about. I did bump a vets students car at Grand Anse beach (the car the a total piece) I think she was try to blame me for damage already on car.

So I was looking for a cable and wireless outlet just to browse around. When to website and see bmoble plan thing. I saw a bmobile place on way to the Aquarium. Is that were I can looking at phones??

Where is cable and wirless place. Locals say digicell is crap. I KNOW your gonna say wait till school starts I am just looking and I have my acceptance letter so maybe I can get a deal early.

So far I have to say coming early was a very good move. There are so many little things you relize you need that are not on the list. List is generic but there are needs specific to me that requires I bring down additional stuff.

Wed I am getting private tour of island. When I drive I have to focus on road so its hard to absorb area. THings are very subtle....There are not signs pointing you to everywhere like in US. People are so peaceful and nice.

My man Jay gave me a privite tour of school. Thanks Buddy. That was clutch.

Funny to see the people studying with a carib, with lakers game on, and head and neck on the table

anyhow off to get my temp pass for SGU and see about bank.

Overall GND def not as bad as I thought. Spiceland def provides adequate food. Pearls on the other hand is left to debate!

    ****

Yeah, no signs anywhere. It's also kind of funny when people ask me for my house number but can't really blame them.

I did bump a vets students car at Grand Anse beach (the car the a total piece) I think she was try to blame me for damage already on car.
    That was fast.

So I was looking for a cable and wireless outlet just to browse around. When to website and see bmoble plan thing. I saw a bmobile place on way to the Aquarium. Is that were I can looking at phones??
Bmobile is a phone plan. Generally, if you see a sign advertising Bmobile, they're just selling pre-paid cards. Only Cable and Wireless can hook you up with service.

There should be a Cable and Wireless place upstairs at Excel Plaza. It's not hard to find where that is. Ask anyone.

Where is cable and wirless place. Locals say digicell is crap.
It is. Cheaper than C&W but service and quality sucks. My father has C&W and my mom Digicell and there is no comparison e.g. he can get service IN the house while she has to go outside or stand near a window.

Wed I am getting private tour of island. When I drive I have to focus on road so its hard to absorb area.
Good idea. You are, after all, on a kind of holiday. Might as well see some of the sights. You might not be able to later on when you're in class. Ask anyone who had intentions of doing so.

People are so peaceful and nice.
Finally someone can say so. There are bad apples like anywhere else but to hear some people talk it's like this is the worst place on earth.

You might get jaded later on though.

Funny to see the people studying with a carib, with lakers game on, and head and neck on the table
Hope they're not doing that next term with the same class. This IS medical school. Some people thing that it's a joke because of the surroundings and the fact that it's not in the US.

They learn the hard way. As usual, not everyone.

Thanks Saor, I found C&W at Excel. But there was a long line and one SGU was arguing how she has had little sleep and was trying to "suspend her phone" for the summer. Can this be Done?????

So checked out stuarts (I am staying right there) bananas, aquarium, Grand Anse Market (I like Spiceland the best, followed by excel, then Grand Anse). BUT Grand Anse had nice Pharmacy (nice to know incase I need to get somin filled) All though there is Pharm a lot closer to school.
Also Grand Anse had a doc and dentist and harware, food.

But a must say you do have to be aware b/c some people will try and rip you off. Goes somin like "so is this your first time in GND" if you say yes "sometimes" people see that as green light to try and make some extra cash. I was offered weed right on Grands Anse Beach and I forgot I still had my video cam going and caught it on tape, funny! Also, without asking me some person starting cleaning my car. I was trying to get him to stop but he wouldnt. Then he asked for money. I feel so bad but I try to be polite and say please stop. Security was helpful.

Well I will give a full organized report when I get home sat

Took some great pics and video.

Driving in GND makes driving in NY/NJ/LA look like driving through disney world

Oh yea buses are city buses NOT reggae buses and dont have any camaflouge clothes with you.

We put our phone service on hold for 6 months after the hurricane. It can be done. Not sure if it's worth the hassle for just the summer off or something unless you're REALLY strapped for cash.

I know one of my friends, at least, put her internet on hold for 2 months in the summer. That's worth doing though cause internet's expensive.

So checked out stuarts (I am staying right there) bananas, aquarium, Grand Anse Market (I like Spiceland the best, followed by excel, then Grand Anse).
Food Fair at Grand Anse is cheaper than Real Value/IGA at Spiceland but you get more American products and variety at the latter.

BUT Grand Anse had nice Pharmacy (nice to know incase I need to get somin filled) All though there is Pharm a lot closer to school.
Also Grand Anse had a doc and dentist and harware, food.
My dentist is at Grand Anse. She's awesome.

There's also an eye doc if you need one above the Scotia Bank opposite to it. He's Venezuelan and is quite good in my opinion.

But a must say you do have to be aware b/c some people will try and rip you off. Goes somin like "so is this your first time in GND" if you say yes "sometimes" people see that as green light to try and make some extra cash.
That tends to happen in a lot of countries where there isn't a price tag on things.

I was offered weed right on Grands Anse Beach and I forgot I still had my video cam going and caught it on tape, funny!
    Prepare for lots of that.

Also, without asking me some person starting cleaning my car. I was trying to get him to stop but he wouldnt.
Tell him to piss off. Seriously. I hate that crap.

The "squeegee kids" used to do that a lot to my windshield/windscreen in Canada when stopped at traffic lights. Liked nothing better than to flick on the wipers when they tried.

Driving in GND makes driving in NY/NJ/LA look like driving through disney world
It's not so bad. Asian drivers in Vancouver were worse in a lot of ways in my opinion.

Just look out for the buses. They think they have some entitlement to right of way when there is no such law. EVERYONE (every single local person I know) hates them and their crap attitude and the lack of any enforcement by the police.

Just drive defensively as if there's no law. There might as well not be.

Oh yea buses are city buses NOT reggae buses
Only students call them as such.

and dont have any camaflouge clothes with you.
Ever since the coup back in '79 it's supposedly illegal to do so unless you're in the SSU (special services unit).

Enjoy the rest of your visit. I'm off to do Micro at last.
