Review Books

What are the best board review books that correspond with first term classes that I can use for review? All I know of are BRS, High Yield and First Aid(This one covers all subjects I think) Series. Which author writes the best review for each paticular first term class in your experiences.

Thanks

they give u so much books for first term that you dont really need any more extra books. the only one that i would really get is the rohen atlas and maybe the BRS for anatomy.
people have brought down first aid but have not touch or use it since they brought it down.
i dont even know how the heck am i gonna carry all these books back in a month...

That's pretty much all you need. I really liked the Netter's Flash cards. I'm in 6th term and I still use them today, going over 5 or so each night. Make sure you buy First Aid and more importantly ANNOTATE!!! Everyone buys the book, but not many ppl write in them as they go along. Trust me, by the time u get to where I am right now, you'll be glad you did. It makes studying for boards, which is what preclinicals is ALL about (not grades), much, much easier

Totally agree with you!!
I used the netter Flash Cards too(not that fond of Netters Drawings, put the compact nature of the was nice)- I put them on a ring and carried them everywhere!!
And annotating 1st aid is a very good idea- but do put too much in it-just the important stuff -my 1st term stuff I noted WAY too much stuff.

I annotate (which I call short hand hyroglyphics) outside of the books on seperate note pads. This way it condenses things down for rapid review. I think this is what you mean.

Thanks

well i do't know about vtrain, but i meant IN THE BOOK. Its a compact way on having one book to review(note I said REVIEW- not study) for step I.
I would note just the things that have been mentioned as step I relavant (you get more of this from 4 term on)- write in your books!!! Its OK!!

im guessing they meant both. i personally dont write in my review books but i dont have that many so thatd be why. and its because i dont like hauling too many books around because a loaded backpack and the hot tropical sun just dont mix for me. youre definitely going to have to write in the course companions because for some classes there is more material on the exams than is just listed in the course companion. some are meant as outlines to guide you in studying and others, well i speak for a class in fourth term (oh and another in second term), are copied straight out of textbooks. i thought that was illegal? funny how we were not allowed to download slides to help us study but its ok for the profs to reprint the book >:O ok done ranting.....

I am def a fan of the keep it simple club. I dont like so many sources, it get too overwhelming and less efficient. My bro is a PGY-IV at UCSF and his ex graduated SGU in 2002.

I am I big fan of just getting one packet per class. If you know the packet of info then you are set. I wish there were some guildlines all classes had to follow in regards to how they present material.

I heard Biochem, Histo, and Embryo and pretty much know the course companions and your are good. How true is this???

Pretty true, though now with Dr. H. leaving, the biochem packets may change. Probably would for the next term of 1st termers though.

I think vtrain was talking about annotating 1st aid not for class, but for boards study.
