The partial tuition break is not that much of a break, but it is better than nothing. Not that many people can affort $ 17K per semester for clinical anyway.

You probably meant to say that the training at SC was second to NOTHING...or maybe you didn't. This is more accurate.

"Isn't that the whole point of the Admissions Application? I think the reason they have the "Personal History" section is so all these issues are addressed.

And at the end of the application where the student certifies that all the information provided is true, are we just not suppose to believe a St. Chris student's signature? Can't anyone lie on that part of the application? I am also assuming an admissions office of over 27 years of experience has ways of finding out the truth."

yes, you need a comprehensive application process maybe including a live interview... but one of the things i was trying to dance around is the issue of the acedemic record integrity from 'shadier' schools.

giving an example of people that were kicked out of 'schools' that i know of for relatively minor things like signing in for others during attendance, to more serious cheating during exams and a huge one with stalking / sexual harrasment and other things...many of which may have transfered and are going into residency now

accepting transfers is much more complicated than just looking at grades on paper but SGU has years of experience so i'm sure they will do it right and fair

Kigezi students applied and got accepted into SGU, Ross, SC, and other schools.
There was not any advertisement about SGU's offer to Kigezi students. Why now SGU decided to advertise this offer in the public forums?

SGU had dealt with the similar situation with the closure of Kigezi school last year. So
, please do not waste your breath on telling SGU admission office how to do their job.

Trasnfering issues
Its come to my attention that folks thinking of transfer from st. chris should be careful; There is a chance that they will be unlicensible at the end of the day, at least in states like California. If trasnfering, seriously consider starting over; some schools will offer scholarship for those accepted in caribbean for instance, but not advanced standing (ie you dont pay more money, just more time). The issue apparently is that if a state does not recognize a school, they will not recognize the credits NO MATTER who decides to pick up the credits (ie no repeated stuff from recognized schools). Im told sgu once gave one year of credit to Kigezi students who transfered and when they graduated, CA made them come back to SGU and re-do the first year of medicine if they wanted to be licensed! This is info passed onto me and as always its up to you to evaluate these issues completely for yourself before making any decisions. I apologize if any of this info is incorrect but you should know the questions that you should ask as you look into your plans. All the best,

hey,

I just wanted to point out that no one that transferred into SGU from Kigezi was given advanced standing and that none of those transfers have graduated yet....................so hence, none of them have had any liscensure issues.

thanks!

Any 3rd or 4th semester SGU students who were Kigezi students?????

you know i bet us students feel far more generous about taking in sgu transfers than some of these sgu students about folks who have to repeat their whole education just to get a degree from the school. Yet we were all lazy shulbs in college who didnt do the things we needed to to get into a us school. The hippocracy stinks.

???

Are SGU transfers offered free tuition for repeated classes at the US school? I don't think so...are they in effect being rewarded for a monumental error in judgement? Nope...they are being rewarded for excellent work.

If an SGU student transfers, they do it as a regular applicant, with no special favors. If the same offer were made to SC students, I don't think anybody would have a problem with it.

What stinks is special treatment for poor decisions. SGU transfers work hard to get the transfer, and deserve it. To compare them to the SC transfers completely degrades the work they put into it.

If the SC students are good enough, they should apply to and get into SGU, and be treated like every other applicant.

Dean Lambert,
Your willingness to accept SC students is very admirable. It's outstanding to see this offer being extended, and I think it speaks very highly of your institution.

Please forgive Islandhopper (one of your first year students). You see, he's repeating his entire first year at SGU after "underperforming" at Saba, and paying full tuition for it. So, as you might imagine, he hates to see any generousity extended to SC students. I don't believe he is representative of your institution.

Keep up the good work!

Sincerely,
mdjd

Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand the anger behind his words.
Islandhopper, please go to the library and try to make at least 70% ; final exam days are just around the corner. Wish you luck with your first year at SGU.
