Hey, despite all this debate, I'm not disregarding that question. One thing that definitely comes to my mind is lots of "free publicity" and something they can put down as a shining example to "future generations" of how good they are. Who knows, maybe even some kind of tax write off.

But in the end, the "end justifies the means to me".

Of course there is!!!! PRESS, PRESS, PRESS!!! Look on the forums, everyone is talking about this offer and think of the grateful SC students who become grateful SGU alum!!! Think when they are asked for contributions, won't they gladly give it?

Plus the school will only take the qualified students, right? Ther biggest question (at any med school admin comm meeting) is "can this person suceed at this school and will they pass the steps"- those qualified SC students have already proven themselves - they have good grades in med school- they will surely do well at sgu. Way better risk than someone applying with no history.

and they HAVE....schools in the home states of Tulane and LSU's med students did just THAT! They offered to take students as either full students or allowed them in their classes until their respective schools could take them back. In fact neighboring colleges and universities did the exact same thing, allowing UG in the schools in NO to attend classes - TUITION -FREE for the fall semester.

Inslandhopper, come down and think for a minute here. LMAO.

SC tuition is about $ 8000 per semester.

# 1- SABA tuition is about $7,380 per semester.
# 2- AUC tuition is about
$10,100 per semester.
#3- ROSS tuition is about $11,540 per semester.
#4- SGU tuition is about $ 17,200 per semester ( Term 1, 2, 4)

Do the math, and you will see the whole picture. SABA will be the first choice for Stchris students due to the low tuition fees. I do not think any of Stchris students would want to pay SGU that much when there are other options such as ROSS, AUC, and SABA. So what does SGU do? SGU came up with the scholarships offer to jump on top of SABA. Case is closed. End of Story. Period.

P.S. SGU will do anything to be #1, top of the list, so you should be proud of your school instead of complaining. Open up your eyes for a change.

Question for Dean Lambert
Dean Lambert,
What exactly is being offered, full or partial scholarships for the basic science courses that St. Chris students had already successfully completed , so there would be no confusion in the future? Thanks.

Per Dean Lambert's statement:
"Students were not granted advanced standing since it was likely that licensing boards would not have accepted the transfer credit in the future. In lieu of the credit, every student was given a tuition scholarship for any semester they had already successfully completed. We allowed students to take courses without paying to ensure that they would have the best chance of being licensed as physicians in the future. "

I don't understand that's the best answer I think, redo courses and they get to for free, WOW thats awesome, If they redo and do the 18 months then they will be all 50 eligible thats the best I think. I have paid to redo.

Interesting to hear that kind of story in the States. Not back in my country Canada, though...
