Jan. '04 first-termers arriving early - let's get together!
To all January 2004 freshmen who are arriving early in Grenada...
I'll be arriving on the island on the evening of Jan. 12. I noticed, after receiving SGU's orientation schedule, that nothing official is planned until the 14th! I know of at least a few other students arriving earlier than this, and I'm sure there are more. So my idea is: why wait for the school to introduce us?!?! I'd like to arrange some type of get-together for those of us who'll be on the island before SGU orientation starts. I know some of us will be getting there ~6:00 or 7:00 P.M. on the 12th, so that night might not work. But what about the evening of the 13th? I really think it would be great for those of us getting there early to meet up, have dinner and/or drinks, etc. before official orientation starts. So... let's get something goin', huh? 1) First, we need to decide on a place! My best friend (an SGU grad) suggested Glover's on campus. BUT, we're going to spending enough time there the next 4 months (and after that), right? I think it would be cool to find someplace off-campus, perhaps in St. George's? Sure, we'll have to take taxis, but we can share them, right? Anyway, if anyone at all has a suggestion on a place for us to meet up, either on- or off-campus, please advise! 2) Second, let's all agree on a time. I guess 6:00 or 7:00, or maybe even 8:00 P.M. would be ok. What does everyone think? Please post your preferences! 3) Third, how will we be able to identify each other? Perhaps someone would be willing to secure a space or table at our chosen place ahead of time? (I'd be willing to do this, if necessary.) Allright early Jan. '04 newbies... let's get something together, ok? Upperclassmen and grads: any suggestions regarding cool places to get together on the island are needed and would be greatly appreciated!!! |

get together
Cal,
I think I am on you flight with jamaica air on the 11th arriving on the 12th. I am down to help you out. yes I think the 13th sounds very good. 8 pm seems to be better because it sems as though flights get in in the evenings. If we make it at 8 it will give people a chance to get there. Looking forward to see you and beena on the plane. I am sre thre will be others on that same flight as well. we'll just have to seek eachother out. minh |

Hey Minh...
Minh...
Yes, you are on my flight, as well as Beena, and I think a few others as well! We'll definitely hook up before landing on the island! For those of us coming in on this Air Jamaica flight on the 12th, I'm positive we'll meet up on the isle that night if we want. Sure, we'll have just arrived and will be settlin' in, but just maybe the few of us might want to get together and kick-off the upcoming "semester from hell"! Why not do both? For those arriving on the night of the 12th, why not unload your stuff at your place, and then unwind from the ridiculously huge journey to Grenada at (yet to be suggested place)? This, as far as I can tell, should arrange itself. But, I still want to establish something quasi-official on the evening of the 13th. "JLai", "Minh", "Beena", and others... I know you're up for this. So, we'll wait for a recommendation on a place from the "old-timers". |

fun
Hey Guys I'm down to party on the 13th. My flight (AJ out of JFK) arrives around 12:30 during the day of the 13th, so that will leave me plenty of time. My roomate will be arriving on the 12th so I'm sure he will go too. We can take a bus, that way we save $$. See ya

stewarts
I wont be there, but i will suggest a place- Stewarts bar in the True Blue Inn. Not too far from campus, you can actually walk if you are up to it, great view, good atmosphere, not too loud, plenty of tables where you can sit and chat, and you can hop over to the restaurant to eat dinner if you want.
You might find that students generally dont go out in St Georges too much- it tends to shut down very early as is island custom. |

Arriving January 12 Too
Werd-
I think this is a great idea. I too will be coming on the 12th on Air Jamaica. My flight from Orlando to Montego Bay is JM0080 and from Montego Bay to Grenada is JM0095. I arrive into Grenada at 6:20pm. I wanted to know if anyone else was on this plane. Peace- r |

Stuart's Bar
Well I'm starting SGU in January - final semmester pre-vet - so am I invited too?
My girlfriend and I fly in from the UK on the 12th. Stuart's bar is a great idea. Really nice place and close to campus. And, as suggested, for those that want to eat, the restaurant right next door is one of my favourites on the island - and possibly one of the most beautiful. Dan. |
