how was your admission interview and writing?

Hi,
I have an interview with SGU. Could you please let me know how was yours? And how was the writing test?? I thought writing 2 personal assays and taking MCAT which has a writing section were enough… Please comment…
thanks

Do a search on interview limited to the SGU forum, and you will find more threads than you can read through which answer all your questions.

well, the old ones do not say much about specific questions...but, i guess i should relax and take it. It is tomorrow and I just received a notification. so, I kinda freaked out .

Do you know how many people really fail the interview? I chekced US Week Stats but nothing on St. George...

everyone asks different questions. but they will ask the usual questions like why do you think you will make a good doctor. why do u want to be a doctor. what are some positive and negative characteristics that you have. they will ask you about your extracurricular activities. your hobbies. my interview was really short less than 30min including the essay. about the essay i don't think they read it cause i definitely had miss spellings on it and didn't put the correct date down and they still accepted me. but yes do a search prehaps there should be a sticky about the interview and how to prep for the interview??? what do you think Steph??? also do research about the school and have specific questions to ask your interviewer.

Ohh most importantly be yourself and don't be worried/stressed the interview is important but a lot of times they alread have made up their mind about your acceptance when they interview you. So RELAX and take a deep breath!

Thank you All!
I hope i will do well.

Another Question:

did you process a scholarship application after you got accepted to SGU? Or am I too late? It seems like not too many people get one according to this website... ~50% tuition deduction is the highest?

Lastly,
Do you guys know if SGU's MD degree is recognized by WHO/UN?

Thanks!

My essay question had three choices and I was given 10 minutes to answer one of the three.
My interview lasted nearly two hours. The interviewed and I sat and talked as well as answering the 'pre-printed' questions. I felt like the interview went very well, but now I'm concerned since I haven't heard from the school yet. I was accepted into another school and wanted a final determination from SGU before I made my deposit decision (SGU is aware of this information). Still waiting.

Good luck on the interview and relax.

I applied for a scholarship after i was accepted. i wouldn't say you are too late but always call bayshore to make sure. i dont know of anyone that has 50% tuition. and not very many people get scholarships but it doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks to you guys, i think my interview went well !

But, of course, i am not going to relax until i see that letter...
you were right about the questions that they asked; "write 3 chracteristics that would help you to pursue a career in medicine..."

I though I was able to finish it in 10 min, but, oh man... This was worse than the MCAT's writing section ! I just purged out whatever I was thinking and I just told the interviewer, "please tell the committee to look at my MCAT's writing score...bye"

Hopefully the admission will not look into it too much. I just didn't see the purpose of having us write another essay.....

Overall, I was very impressed with the interviewer. I was buying everything he was saying...how good the school is, etc. yes, it is an opportunity for someone like me who might not get into school in the U.S.

oh, he said he carries about $200,000 debt.

I guess it is a huge investment that should not be taken lightly...

Seagoddess, i will apply for scholarship once i get in... yes, it does not hurt.
