thank you for that amazing story. and i repeat... there are amazing people at SGU and that is what makes our school so unique. i know someone with a similar situation who took an extended leave of absence and was not allowed to return.

Thanks for the kind responses. I hope to surround myself with people who after life on the island I can call life long friends. I love building relationship not based on comparing resumes but sharing common fears and hopes about life. Maybe its being in a family where clinical depression runs and mom with panic attacks. While depression hurts it does give you a pure look into one's soul on why they hurt without having any outward injury. Its been my greatest learning experience to tend to and trying to heal those with depression, panic attacks, OCD, Social phobias , the whole line. That why doctors need to tend to people emotionally as well as physically I think while I know many people would disagree and say you have to seperate yourself from getting emotionally involved. While I agree to a point I dont agree you have to be a stiff.

anyhow thanks again

I just wanted to update you as to my friends situation.. He wrote a letter to the board and heard back from them the dean. He was told that he will be granted an interview but they still recommended he take the test. This is MUCH better than the earlier condition where he would be granted an interview ONLY IF he signed up the april MCAT.
So basically i thnk unless he bombs the interview he has a good chance for the Fall06 class. =)

Just a quick note to Gforce007.
Glad it worked out well in the end. In the end you are in good company with the folks who have similar world view and reason for going into Medicine.

Hope things are well with your parents.

Best of Luck
-Arun

Well it's good to hear some positive dialogue in the forum. It's great to hear that some great doctors will come out of the Caribbean. I am actually attending Ross in Aug., despite the distance I hope that we can bring light to the U.S.'s perception that the Caribbean teaches different medicine. Good luck to you all.
