Thanks for the reply!

Thanks so much for the reply! I've got a hundred questions such as: Where are you from? Are you enjoying Statia? Is the school everything it's made out to be? Are you satisfied with your choice of med school?

I'm excited about starting, yet nervous as well... It's hard to know what to expect once down there.... do you have any words of wisdom you could share with me?

Thank you once again!

Indians, Cowboys and the things between them!!!

Dear “Sajani458”,
Buddy, not only do we have “Indians” here, we even a few “cowboys”….

But seriously now, during my time on Statia, I found this to be true…. We(Statia students), do not see each other as “Indians”, “Canadians”, “Arabs”, “Americans”, “oriental”, “Jews”, “Christians”…. Or any other category!
But rather as fellow students and part of a special community, the Medical community!!! More often then not, to this day I have no clue as to what religion or ethnicity my friends where… nor could I care less.
I based my opinions regarding people I met, on who they where not what their background was.
I feel that finding out what things we have in common is more important then those that set us apart… thus, if you are Indian, oriental, black, white or green with purple stripes I personally… and the students in general could care less about such things…
In any case, I would like to wish you a lot of success in your studies and I can honestly say that as one who was from a back round that was unique(I was the only one on the Island with this particular ethnic back round)… the students as well of the local population had accepted me with open arms, making me feel very much at home and welcomed… I sincerely hope you receive the same treatment I got.

Yours sincerely,
RES101

I'm sure most, if not all the other students over at Statia, do too

I like indian food.
Seriously, You should reach out and meet different people other than just indians. Learn about your classmates from Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Middle East etc. I think statia was great in diversity.
