Look people, if you want to become a Doctors, you must do one thing and one thing only. "Don't listen to anyone" Most of the students that post here are full of it. some bash the school and other talk badly about the school then post things like..."I love Statia, thank you so much"..."The people at this school are the best, wow"...or...."They are liars and they wont refund your money" Give me abreak!!!!
Get your information from the school in writing, not some irate student who didn't get what they want cause mommy and daddy weren't here to help them. School anywhere in the world is one big business. They wouldn't be open if they weren't making money or doing it for money. Study hard, Don't listen to junk people say. Good luck to those who really care beacuse in the end, your patience see right thru your facade. Last edited by PBIAB; 10-11-2008 at 04:57 PM. |

generally everyone is gonna have a qualm here or there, especially with the loan situation as is but overall people are happy/fine with this school the original poster was just saying, dont listen to "junk" from other people, they just got excited and took it to another level of course dont listen to "junk" from other people, thats pretty obvious, but you gotta decipher and figure out what is true and what isnt

I don't understand why people take everything they hear to heart.
People don't bash at this school allot but as the terms go on and loans get more scarce, people will leave to find schools that are cheaper or schools that have loans. As they leave, they will almost always bash the school they were attending and others will take that opportunity and praise the school like crazy in hopes of who knows what. Also, coming from a financial background, everyone needs to know that the loan situation will not be corrected anytime soon. I know many US students with 4.0's that can't get loans for US schools, why would the banks going to give loans to small Caribbean schools. I'm not saying it won't happen but if it does, it's not going to be for a while and interest rate is going to very high. I hope we are all adults. Do some research! Oh yeah, one more thing.---------Do not attend med school unless you can pay. Do not take a term of free offer in hopes of getting a loan later. The loan might not be there. The schools will not give your credits until you pay. (That’s a fact). You not only loose time but the rent, utilities and whatever expense you acquire on the island.

i really don't understand the rant. at least some aspects of it. i love the school, does that mean i'm an irate student? i love the school cause it got me to where i need to be without many problems or issues. ever think that we praise the school because the school deserves it?
i don't get the mommy and daddy point either. you know, sometimes people come on here because it is easier to get information, and sadly, it's quicker too than going to the school. |

one thing i agree with PBIAB on is that you should not go to a medical school or any school if you cannot afford it. sadly, during my time there, i saw people one semester on, one semester off, over and over again because they could not afford the tuition. and then after they finish, i see too often people fail step 1 and sit idle for so long just mounting up penalties. for those who don't know, if you don't pass step 1 within 6 months, you get charged $200 by the school for each month after that. i'm pretty sure no loan will cover that (i actually agree with the school on that though).
too often i see other schools who allow their students to start rotations without taking step 1. i met this one girl who was doing her LAST rotation but had failed step 1 four times. first of all, her school cheated her out of her money, then they egged her on by saying she was okay to start rotations. our school may like getting their money, but they are not this bad. so it's a lot worse out there. |
