sure, without going into too much detail, look at the Histology shelf. the same author of the Ross Histo textbook writes the shelf and you will see some pictures even some drawings directly out of that book. i really doubt that you will see illustrated histology pictures from that textbook on the USMLE.
also the writer of the neuro shelf, Dr. R J (can't put his whole name here but he's on faculty at University of Rochester) is a close friend to our Neuro proff and he has told us many times, although some of the questions are retired, he still writes new questions for the shelf exams each year.
the scores we receive at AUA are two digit scores which is similar to the two digit scores from that of the step 1. a 64 on a shelf exam is equivalent to passing of that subject on the step 1 with a 185. i know Ross uses this two digit score as well and i wouldn't be surprised if SGU and AUC does this as well.
as for the behavioral science shelf, there were was very little if not any biostats questions at all. i'm not sure how the curriculum runs at SE but every shelf i've taken, there hasn't been anything asked that wasn't covered in class. sure, there were some pretty challenging questions going into deeper levels but if you did pretty well in the class, you probably would have no problem passing the shelf with a 64. this shows you're on track to doing well on the USMLE
