Thread: Introduction

I wanted to introduce myself to everyone here on the valuemd forum, and appologize for my status not showing "school official" but i have tried for a few weeks to contact the admin with no success so I just signed up as is.

I have recently been asked / hired by SCIMD to help with recruitment and licensing body issues. I figured this is a good place to start as this is very high up on the google search list when the school is searched for.

I am a gradute of the school who is fully licenced and have been practicing for a few years.

I am here to help answer questions and provide info.

Things that I do not know and/or can't help with

1- For former and current students - I don't have your money that was lost, I don't know where your money is, I have nothing to do with that at all and I too am still owed money from the former administration. Please don't ask about it... better still if you know where it is let me know.

2- I was with the school during the entire disaster that happened, but most of that is "well" documented here and various other places. Please don't ask me about this me, learn to use the search function of this forum.

3- Please don't ask personal questions as I do like my privacy and will respect yours.

4- Any abusive or negative comments will be ignored.

Those are just some basics and I will edit as people do things / ask things that i can't or don't want to answer.

I am going to try to have this particular forum locked (not deleted) and a new forum for SCIMD started (I've tried multiple times to contact admin with no success). At the school we don't want to hide the past or shy away from trying to answer questions about it but we simply want to start fresh without all the bickering and nonsense that happened here. The troubles are part of the schools building and growth and is readily available on the internet so no point trying to lie or hide it.

"Asked / Hired" Which is it? There is a huge difference between a graduate doing something for ones alma mater and one who is on the payroll.

If you won't tell us who you are how can we verify that what you are saying is the truth?

It doesn't make any sense, what reason could you have for concealing your identity? If you are an official representative of the college it seems that you would want people to know who you are, unless you're one of the students that was a cheerleader of the former administration with which we are already far too familiar.

As it stands now you're just a faceless recruiter, no different than the rest of the Caribbean schools.

Hi RobOman I'll try to answer your questions

1- I put asked / hired since the "job" is unpaid at this point because the school has little to no extra money to pay me so i was ASKED to do it for FREE until / and if the school turns around then it would become HIRED.

2 - I don't want to post all my personal information since then its very easy to find office and hospital address and with several of the people on this forum causing trouble for other graduates I don't want to turn my attempt to help the school into me loosing my job. (if this bothers you enough, then please simply ignore everything i post)

I will verify everything that needs to be with letters from the school directly to the admin of valuemd if asked.

3- I was not a cheerleader of the former administration and have never actually posted on this forum before. I have been an avid reader of this forum before, during and after the difficulty because at times information was posted here before any of us students knew about it and that how we challenged the former admin.

4- I'm not asking you to take anything I simply write here as fact. If you look at my other post anything (or the vast majority of thing) I post will have links to government websites or scanned copies of documents. I am of the belief that if it isn't on paper or an official website than I don't believe it so I can't expect anyone on an anonymous forum to, so i will try to avoid simply stating anything and asking for people to trust me. The school is in no position at this time to ask for un-earned trust.

Alright. That's fair enough. You definitely seem to be on a different wavelength than the other "officials" we have seen show up here over the years. Might as well give you the benefit of the doubt and see how things go, its not like we have anyone else telling us what is going on.

Thats the thing is that there is not much going at this piont. We're trying to get things going... but it will be difficult... so not much to report

We're hoping that the school will be a good alternative to some of the other foreign schools available in Europe or the Carribean.

People coming just need to be aware of the restrictions that are now associated with coming to the school (which we hope will be temporary). If they are then it can be a great alternative.

I got to where i wanted to be in the end, with some difficulty and lots and lots of hard work, while enjoying the benefits of studying in the UK.

Is this school still operating? If so is it legal?

Yes the school is still open an operating.

I'm not sure what you mean by "is it legal" but....

The school is listed in IMED under the country of senegal where the main campus is.

The school is also listed in the Avicenna Directory (replaced the WHO Directory) again under the country of senegal where the main campus is.

The school has physical buildings in Dakar Senegal and Luton England. The Dakar campus is fully open, staffed and has a full complement of students. They provide instruction in English and French. Graduates from the Dakar campus are eligible for full licensure in Senegal. I don't know if any of those students have tried to get licenced anywhere else.

The Luton campus is seperately accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Colleges. It is fully recognized by senegal, teaching in English and is working towards a fully integrated curriculum with the main campus. The Luton campus is also recognized by the Home Office in the UK and eligible to issue student visas as an education institution located in the UK. Graduates of the either campus are eligible to write the USMLE, and LMCC exams. There are graduates with full licensure in the US and Canada, and many graduates currently in residency in the US and I believe in canada as well (but not 100% sure). Graduates are also eligible for full independent licensure in several US states.

Is that what you meant by legal? If not then please ask and i will try to clarify for you.

Speaking of the Avicenna Directory listing, it needs to be updated/corrected.

The full address of the main campus in Senegal needs to be included in the Avicenna Directory listing for the medical college in order for the entry to be seen as valid, according to the General Medical Council in the UK.

Also, in the notes section it says: "El Hadji Ibrahima Niasse University has the rigt to deliver MD Degree". They spelled "right" wrong and if I'm not mistaken grammar dictates that it should read "has the right to deliver the MD degree". I know this is minor but every little bit counts.

Thanks.. I've sent them an e-mail just now. It took me 4 months and about 30 e-mails AFTER they were provided with letters and paper work from the MOE just to update the listing.

I will keep tabs on this.

I looked at the listing several times even and didn't notice the spelling. Also licensing bodies didn't notice when myself and another graduate applied for a full license and we both applied in fairly an@lly retentive places. I don't think it matters really but I do like things done right and complete.

It's good to know no entity has had a problem with it. I tend to scrutinize every single word as I know that's what some critics of the school try to do in order to find and/or create problems. I can just see it now:
