You must have edited it later to USMLE because you initially said that it was the curve that was the determining facctor. But, enough already, this has already strayed far enough from the original topic.

Who cares if Step 1 is the determining factor? You thinking misleading students into high grades in basic sciences is ok? Students should get a feel of how they will do before taking the test.

This also casts doubt on the supposed St. Chris Step 1 pass rate they always like to advertise.

One thing that really disturbs me is why it says, "USMLE pass rate at a 'REPORTED' 92%" .. what the hell is REPORTED .. either they know it or they don't. Who reported it to whom? One admin member to another? Everyone pleads the 5th when asked where the info is from. I swear everytime I ask someone in the NJ office a question, they say they are unaware of it, or they don't know who told them. They were just "told". Brilliant escape mechanism to alleviate responsibility from the self.

if u dont pass step 1, u dont become a doc....in the US at least. This will decrease their number liscence grads. If someone scores a 50 on their test and is later curved to a 90 and thinks they are smart they are only kidding themselves. This is why there are practice tests out there to see where u stand. anyone going into the usmle without any practice tests is asking for trouble imo.

5th semester, St. Chris students take the Princeton review to help prepare for the USMLE, and if I am not mistaken the Princeton review gives a review test of the USMLE. If a student does horrible on the review test, then obviously that student needs to hit the books despite what curve was given. So if a person has an inflated ego after four semesters of basic sciences, it will eventually deflate in due time allowing that person the opportunity to prepare for the boards as is required by all medical students.
