question regarding green book hospitals

Hello mates, just curious to know if all the green book hospitals require your Step 1 to be done before you enter clinicals because St. Chris doesn't require you to take your step 1 before your clinicals....thanks

Yes

Most programs in the US will require you to have step 1 scores in hand before you can start clinicals, especially if you are an IMG. I don't think there is any law which requires it, but that requirement is present almost without exception to the best of my knowledge. You can usually do psych without having passed step 1, but that is often the extent of it. Regardless, you should still take step 1 as soon as you can, or you will forget all that information. Much of the info on step 1 is not used again.

If you look at what US schools require, the vast majority clearly state that the students must pass step 1 prior to beginning 3rd year clerkships. Just search it on google. G

regarding green book hospitals

IknowitALl,

It is becoming more evident with each of your posts that your sole intent is to disseminate incorrect information and a negative image about St. Chris. It has never been a policy at St. Chris, that you are not required to have taken step 1 prior to starting clinicals. Some people do a psychiatric rotation, but for the most part everyone takes the step 1 first. There are however certain hospitals that will allow other rotations before a student has taken the test. I have posted that anyone with genuine questions can email me and I would be happy to reply, so how come I haven't heard from you? My personal guess would be that as stated above your real intent is to rock the boat and cause disscord on this forum. The topic of this post is a prime example. It is one that could be answered in a multitude of ways. One could call the hospital they want to round in and see if it is a prerequisite to have taken the step 1, or they could ask the administration or any number of other students. Your attempt to sow discontent are poorly disguised at this point, so either give your fingers a rest or put them to good use and contact me with some legitimate questions/concerns.

I agree...

and i'm swayed to believe that IKNOWITALl applied and got rejected by SC (even with its laxed entry requirement) and has vowed a crusade against this school. This can be the only reason s/he is harping so loud about every little detail s/he can muster or nit-pick. I'm not being judgmental, just observant as to the maliciousness on most of his/her posts.

To IKNOWITALl, good luck on whatever it is you are trying to accomplish, and like you, I reserve the right to criticize as I see fit.

Thanks.

V/R,

Rob
