Hospital Access From The First Semester???
Since we are now past the halfway point of this semester. I would like to know where the "Hospital Access From The First Semester" is that we are promised? I have heard absolutely no mention of this by any of the professors, and it is not listed in any of our syllabi.
Mike Klele, an MS-III from St. Chris, said that the hospital access from the first semester was: "It is mainly an introduction kind of a exp. they show you the chemistry, hemotology, pathology labs etc. you see what respiratory does and etc." Bts4202 also said that the hospital access from the first semester was: "The hospital access in the first semester is pretty limited, but it does exist. During the Histology class, students are taken to Luton and Dunstable hospital to check out the pathology lab for an afternoon. (actually, they used to be taken to L&D hopsital, I don't know if they go somewhere else now). The point is to understand the importance of histology class and see how a pathology lab works. There is no patient contact." Furthermore, Mtt also said that the hospital access from the first semester was: "Cell Bio and Histo is everyday too. Most of the classes are lectures. During one of the days, you'll go to the lab at the Univ of Luton. You'll do some clinically relevant stuff at Luton Dunstable Hospital too." Thus far, nothing mentioned above by any of these three people has happened. Does anyone know when this is going to start/occur? Or is this another one of the unfortunate causalities for this semester? -Mike |

Well, I guess we will find out. Most everyone else has done this... I don't see why you wouldn't. It might be wise to ask your Dr. Gray (who would know) rather than students who are not even in your class.

Just what Britain needs
70 medical students who are dangerous at best wandering the wards. Not a good thing.
I personally could care less about getting first semester introduction to a Pathology lab. Been there done that. Boring. What is cool is watching an autopsy...bring a bag lunch and watch the fun ensue!!! ![]() |

Hospital Access From The First Semester???
Some of the past students were able to experience this because our old teacher set this up for us. However, our former teacher has left the school. Your current teacher is new and the curriculum has changed to reflect the new teacher's style of teaching.

that is not a good enough explanation
they should have removed that ad 45 seconds after he left. Someone has to know about it. Ok, kidding aside, I know that the web page is being redone, I would assume the ads are as well. |

clinical experience now starts in the 4th semester
That ad is old.
You will get early clinical experience. It just begins in the 4th semester. Quote:

but
in all honesty what do you expect to do in the hospital during wour early semesters, you dont know how to do anything and i dont think theyll let you do anything unsupervised so it would be more of a burden to the hospital, maybe im wrong. also on the other side of the coin SC should live up to its promices if not then change them. lawsuits start this way--FF
