    Pass/Fail System

    Hello All,
I don't know if it makes any difference, but do other schools (i.e. medical schools, Residency programs) see the Pass/Fail system as an attempt to "hide" the "C" student in the transcript? What happens to GPA in this system? Do schools even approve of this system? Maybe someone knows of any reputable program that uses this system in the U.S. or any other Country.
I am curious because I have never heard of a school having a Pass/Fail system.
    Thanks for the info.
    H.H.

    pass/fail.

st chris's does, however, allow you to graduate "cum lauda" or "magnum cum lauda" - but that is after clinicals.

Just wondering....how is that distinction made? Clinicals also don't have letter grades......just evaluations......this is the first I am hearing about latin honors......thanks........SUZY

    Transfer Grades

I am a transfer student going into clinicals this September. How did the school go by calculating my classes for transfer? Are they all in the Pass category as oppossed to a number system (GPA) that I previously had?
    Thanks,
    HH

    pass/fail

    hey all,

every med school in california (not sure about stanford or usc) has changed their grading systems for the first 2 years to pass/fail. you can get a high pass, and passing is 70%. UC Davis, my undergrad school was the last one to change it, and they changed starting next year. I guess that is the trend for a lot of med schools in the US, and it shows how little grades mean in basic science years in terms of residency and etc...
