Official Policy on New Student Housing

Ok everyone, as promised I have found out exactley how the housing will be done.

Ok, first thing first. Everyone that has already paid their $1000 security deposit for student living (not seat deposit) has already had housing found and allocated to them. There are one or two that are being finished up, but everyone else is done. Those apartments will be open starting in the middle of August so when you arrive they will be ready and waiting even if you arrive on orientation day and bring your bags to school. However, if you arrive on the weekend, please book a hotel because no one will be available to service you. Orientation should be on the friday August 29th, so please arrive that week rather than the weekend following.

For those people who HAVE NOT paid their $1000 security deposit for student living (not seat deposit), no housing has yet been reserved for you. If you wish to have accomodations allocated and ready for you then it is essential that you call 1-888-728-0100 and inform them that you are definately coming and pay your deposit. Only after that will Joe find you a place here in Luton. I talked to Joe today and saw her list, she has been hard at work finding some of the better apartments in Luton... I suggest paying quickly so that the best places are not already gone by the time she starts working on finding YOU a place.

All this came from Admin today.

argh

I just tried dialing this number and it said that "this number is not available in your area at this time"

:O

What do I do? I'm trying to get the deposit out as soon as possible, but by then it may be too late for me?

oh dear...

Toll Free (888) 728-0100, (USA only)
1-908-301-1150 (outside the USA)
Fax Toll Free (877) 229-1420

These are the US numbers, if it said you can't call it from your area yet there might just be some type of weird misconnection. Try from another phone or just try again later. I am sure it will eventually go through.

dorms vs apartments

Please excuse my ignorance if this has been answered before, but is St. Chris no longer utilizing the dorms at the U of Luton? (I touched base with ***** Silver @ the financial aid office about 3 weeks ago and he said St Chris was still placing students in dorms).

If the afore mentioned is true, how many students are being placed in each apartment that the school finds, (e.g., 2, 3, 4, etc)? Also, would the cost of rent differ for each apartment or would there be a flat rate like the dorms?

Thanks.

Students are not being placed in the dorms anymore, people didn't like them and Dr. ***** took the hint. Honestly, I don't know about the pricing and all that. It is better to talk to the Admin to get that info. ***** might just have said "dorms" to simplify his answer. The school is getting dorms with 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms and allocating them based on preference, sex, and otherwise randomly. I don't know all the details so you should probably confirm what I am saying..

Some details can be found here:

If you have any other questions, please contact the school.

This is new to us. We don't know much about it.
We both live off campus and have our own apartments.

The Deposit

Each tenant will be required to pay a deposit equal to one month’s rent. This deposit will be held by CLAS and will be used to pay for any necessary maintenance work to the property.

If work is required during the tenancy period, CLAS will require the amount incurred to be reimbursed to bring the total of the deposit back to its original amount.

At the end of the tenancy, the deposit will be returned to the tenant, minus any necessary deductions for maintenance work.
