1. One can not apply to the big 3 without the MCAT scores, and not all of the students at St.Chris took the MCAT. My estimate is about 50% or less from the people I talked to. Without the MCAT score, they won't even look at your application period.

2. The recent shocking news is the big 3 will not take St.Chris's credit hours because St. Chris is not approved in CA. Another strike here. So you have to start all over again at the big 3, from day 1. So if you decide to transfer to the US med school from St. Chris, the chance is ZERO, I think.

3. Teri loan: $25,000/$45,000 per year (3 semesters), not 2 semesters according to the financial aid lady. This will not be enough when it comes to clinical years. Tuition for clinical rotation is $8,500 per 12 wks.
So that is about $ 34,000 per year (not including books and health insurance). You have $ 11,0000 to live on for the whole year. $45,000 - $ 34,000 = $ 11,000. LOL. You will be so pale and anorexic during clinical years trying to live on that amount of cash. . What about students with families. How will they survive? Something to think about.

4. St. Chris is not eligible for federal loans, so you can not defer your previous student loans while in-school.

So, what is next?

Did I say that??? But, I don't think DOE's will be given out for the foreseeable future to any caribbean/ US FMG's schools. Saba, maybe, but not before AUC. It will be interesting to see. I would not hold your breath.
Just to clarify, AUC has a DOE number (G22444) and offers Stafford Loans.

Regarding the coveted DOE number, a 1992 clause added to the Higher Education Act of 1965 excludes students from receiving Title IV funding if the school does not have 60% native students or a clinical training program in place prior to 1992. Although a school may be listed on the US Department of Education's National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation's list of countries with comparable accreditation, they are ineligible. This is why SGU, Ross, and AUC (all pre-1992) are eligible, and others are not.

Again, regardless of what the financial aid lady said, this is not the case. It is every 2 semesters.
