Oh, I don't know about that:

$37,500 for 36 weeks of clinicals

$8,500 X 3 "Clinical Semesters" = $25,500

$37,500 - $25,500 = $12,000 to live on for 12 months or $1,000 a month.

While not easy, it is certainly possible to live on $1000 a month, especially if one has a little money left over from previous semesters and/or some in the bank.

Although only 36 weeks of clinicals per 12 months will delay graduation, as opposed to ~48 weeks of clinicals per 12 months as was perviously possible with KeyBank loans, its not a "horrible" inconvenience.

Agreed. If there is one thing that most off-shore schools are good at it is finding/maintainung revenue/financing streams.

Probably doable for a single student. For a family, however, we are talking dirt poor. I'm looking at cutting out necessities such as phone, cable television (ok, maybe not a necessity), automobile, etc. and still be way, way over budget. Next thing that gets cut would be health insurance premiums... And I'll be at Saba, not in England.
p.s.-- Today is a historic moment. The dollar has reached it's all time low point in buying power compared to the Euro and pound. Merry Christmas!

Yeah, you are right. However, if you do have a family, your spouse could always get a job in Luton or London and make a nice wage to help cover some living costs. It is a first world country so there really is no limit to the type of job available. I can imagine in Saba, the job prospects would be pretty limited.

Happy Holidays

How does it feel like to ask someone to co-sign a total of
$200,000 , $ 150,000 , or even $ 100,000 ????????? OMG!

Moving right along to plan B, C, D, E, etc.......

Sign of the Times.

Looks like the class size will get smaller, but luckily, we will get some students who will be transferring in from another UK foreign med school this coming Jan semester. How long will it last though ????

Times Times

We found out that we could not defer our U.S government student loans, and now we can not get Keyloans. OMG! what's next ?????????

Sign of the Times.

Strike 2 ! Am I going to wait around for strike # 3 ????? LOL.....

Why don't you post this in some of the other forums? We weren't the only ones affected by the Keybank fiasco. And where exactly are you transferring to that's so great, if you don't mind me asking?

hmm

yea, it affects everyone, but, i think schools like SABA, etc will come through fine and have medachiever again. i just don't think SC will make it (karma).
I post on this site because when i read through all the old posts on the Kigezi site and linked some together i realized they were for the most part, from SC. I guess i would have wanted SC to look better if i went there too! Oh, and i know there are some good students at SC. so, dont freak out just because you cant go rag on a school using a fake screen name, kigezi is gone (still going in Uganda though).
so get packed and ready to move. or hope mom and dad can pay the bills.

Ok buddy, I have never made it a habit of ragging on your school or signing up for other accounts. I'd like to think medical students have better things to do. And I don't really get why you hate our school so much. Anything else you see in that crystal ball of yours aside from St Chris' demise? You want to tell me who's going to win the Superbowl? I, for one, look forward to another year of St Chris bashing. Yay us.
