    wow censorship?

i've never seen so many locked threads? whats the deal? things get a little too real and a threat is automatically locked hiding behind a TOS interpretation? so why weren't the AUC profs names edited out? when are the SC prof names going to be revealed? power to the people! down with the moderators! well some of them....

    well

We had this exact discussion via PM a week and a half ago. I guess you want to make it public. Here is the PM I sent you on March 31, 2004 regarding AUC proffs names and SC proff names.

We discussed this issue in the moderator forum as soon as the post was made. It was decided that if a proff is a part of a school and has his/her name listed on the website, then posting their name was permitted. So, now, all sc proffs can be identified by name since it they have agreed to being listed on teh website. However, insults were still not permitted. In general, the other moderators felt like what was written was not insults, but first hand knowledge and retrivable facts (revoked license for example). My opinion was one of them, but there were others from a non-st chris forum that felt similarly. No one challenged these opinions. If you wish for us to reconsider, I will be happy to re-open the file.

Also, when a thread belongs in another forum, it is moved there, almost always with a shadow as you can see on this forum. Also, flooding is not premitted. Multiple threads with very similar topics are condensed into one thread for the purpose of order. No threads are deleted, they are just locked and a forwarding URL is placed on the thread for easy access to the current thread.

don't you believe in free speech? You are in the middle of a country that has fought for it forever...the UK......go to Speakers Row on the weekends and listen to folks talk.

    wow not quite

first of all, a thread wont be locked just because someone dislikes it. There are terms of service that the moderators- all volunteers by the way-use to do their jobs. some issues are not clear cut and are discussed amongst the group. this isn't a public function. Its done in the best of faith of the moderators and administration. Will everyone always like the results? What do you think. Can you go to an unmoderated site? absolutely. And you can enjoy the benefits and shortcomings of that sort of community. The bottom line here is that when you signed up you agreed to terms of use. if you feel that you cannot function within these guidelines, an unmoderatred forum may be better for your needs. If you want an issue reevaluated, as our good mod above notes, resubmitt it.

    FF,

Steph is right, we can not close a thread just because we don't like it. Protocol must be followed.

    protocol?

i thought it was foul language and perosnal attacks that locked threads. some threads are being closed under the guise that it serves no useful purpose. i guess dispelling and questioning issues is not usefull in this particular forum then; and steph i would expect a better argument that the toddlerish "if you don't like it leave" jk you made your point so if moderators agree on it everything is ok with it then. perhaps people with more time will take up the issue i don't think a thread should be closed unless it id fould language or personal attacks. who are any of you to determine what is usefull unformation for someone else?
