Rotation / License Confusion

Just asking for clarification, as after reading some posts, I've probably just confused myself more about what is actually going on.. From what I understand SC is a relatively new school, correct? Given that, the number of graduates is not enormous, but does some sort of tally record exist as to whether some of these students came back to the States and where and if they are practicing and licensced? Also, can someone possibly expand on the limited stipulation the GMC has if one is considering practicing in the UK?

Given that, the number of graduates is not enormous, but does anybody know of some sort of tally record as to whether some of these dudes came back to the States and where and if they are practicing and licensced? I mean it's not some definitely unsure thing to be able to come back to the US and practice is it? Of course provided the particular state is down with it, right? Just confused because I got the impression things didn't seem too hopeful on the way back in...and can someone possibly expand on the limited stipulation the GMC has if you are considering practicing in the UK? Sorry one more, how would you guys rate the drama and availability factor as far as doing clinicals in the states and finding states to be licensed in that will be compliant with the SC experience? Thanks, and sorry if this made sense to only me.

The "limited stipulation" of the GMC is that if you are a foreign grad in a non EU school (which st. chris is considered by the GMC) then u will have to write the PLAB and u are eligible for a 5 year limited registration which can change to full registration. However this is equally valid for all of the top caribbean schools, and just recently (this Jan) even Australian schools will have to go through the same process. However keep in mind u could still be denied licensure at the end of the 5 years. It's all upto the GMC.

Heh, some kind of record? I suggest you bug the St. Chris admin. to death about giving you some kind of list of students in the US. They don't even give valuable prospectives the information they need.

I'm sure they keep track of their students in the US. Some of the "big guys" at St. Chris insist they don't however, which is bogus. It is up to people like you and me to make the St. Chris admin. spill out the necessary information.

contact

Please feel free to contact anyone on www.mdparadise.com alumni page (when email is shown) and they will answer any question they can. They are all in residency, so please be patient when waiting for a response. Also, feel free to contact people on the "contact" sticky at the top of this forum. Best of luck in your searches.

Dudes?

Read the archives.

Depends how good you are as a student.
The ECFMG route is valid.

Down with it?

Yes, you need to call the licensure boards before committing to any school. A list of state boards is available here:

On the way back in?

I think you need to elaborate on this for me.

It's explained on our website.

http://www.stchris.edu/licensure.htm

Read it carefully.

Drama? huh

Sites are available but you need to be flexible if you choose the international route. You can't always get that little hospital you've always been dreaming about.

nd finding states to be licensed in that will be compliant with the SC experience?

You need to do your own homework and take responsibility for yourself.
