    stafford loans?

Does anyone know if St Chris intends to participate in the Stafford Loan program in the near future. I wrote to them asking this question but Im wondering if any students have heard anything.
    Thank You

The school would obviously love to participate in federal loans, but we will have to see if it actually happens.

The rules have changed somewhat recently to make it extremely hard for caribb style schools to get the stafford loans. One of the new rules is that a foriegn school must have at least 50% of its student body as nationals of the country of charter. The only reason that the big three have them is because they have been gradfathered in, they would probably be disqualified were they to apply today.

The admin here has made it clear that they really want to try for them and having a campus in senegal makes it theoretically possible. I would not rely on them being available though. If it happens, then great, but I don't see it happening soon, AT LEAST not within the next year or so.

    dunno

Don't know the actual numbers, though I have seen pics. There is a girl going down there this break to do some work in our clinic there, so when she gets back maybe she can tell some of us about her experience. She doesn't post on here, but I will email her to see how it went.

It is just volunteering I believe. She is about to start her 5th semester so its def not clinicals. She is really a very altruistic and amazing women, so i think she just wanted to do something meaningful. Hopefully she brings back loads of pics and stories.
