Thread: When to arrive

Hello,

Could a current or past student tell me when the best time to arrive is. Dr2B in another post said that there were some nice places and not so nice places... thus I was wondering if I came too late there would be no appropriate housing for me. Is there anyway to contact landlords before you go down? Also how does the rent process work, do you pay first and last months rent upfront?

I know of two excellent apartments very close to the school that is available right now. It is furnished, with all the amenities included such as cable, running water, and electricity. It is also extremely safe (gated) and well kept. It is perfect for an individual or couple. What would be the price range?

Laura: It seems to be the case that most students fly down about a week before the first day of class. You'd want enough time to settle down, but you also don't want to make this period too long and expensive. I'll be arriving at Lucia on the Wednesday before the start of class. I believe this is the period when students are offered a pickup service from the airport for most other smaller school as well.
