Realism
Let's be realistic.
Only about 20% of each Basic Sciences batch that leaves St. Lucia passes the Step 1. There are many people who have left St. Lucia, finished all of their rotations, have their MD from Spartan and CANNOT PRACTICE because they cannot pass either Step 1 nor Step 2. ECFMG requires both to issue an ECFMG certificate, and an ECFMG certificate is required to apply for a US medical license. In short, it is relatively easy to get an MD from Spartan. The key is to be able to obtain licensure and hence actually make money legally at practicing medicine. One, two or three students out of every Basic Sciences batch leaving St. Lucia is really nothing to brag about, and the hoopla made about this ONE student scoring a 93 shows what a rarity it really is. Ever hear about 20 people in a Basic Sciences batch at Spartan passing with over 90? |

This is why people like you, mindprobe and greendogz are too much, because nothing satisfies you. The step 1 grades are personal. Psinha, was simply sharing an example of a friend, nothing more and you guys jump all over him/her. Maybe that is why so many current students opt out of posting stuff in this forum. But you said that only 20% percent of the Basic Science batch pass step 1.. OK, since you "know" this type of data, maybe you can tell us how many got 90's? I didn't think so... Now you are going to say that you don't know what scores they got but you "know" the percent that passed, right? The truth is Mindprobe, you don't know diddly!!! As usually, you are just pulling things out of your you know what... -s&a |

St. Lucian Monitoring committee
THe St. Lucian Government sent down a montoring committee last week to check out the school. They were here from July 7-9. THey held meetings with faculty and staff and the administration. Also there was a meeting with students where the faculty, staff, and administration were not allowed. We are due to hear from them sometime this week, whether they are going to approve or disapprove us. If they approve us this will be the finishing touches on getting stafford loan. Which would be available between Nov and Jan. However, if we are disapproved then it will slow the process down drastically. We are all keeping our fingers crossed.
