99.9%, st.martin, saba..

Greendogz, according to rrod, 99.9999% of learning is outside of class, so I guess you didn't miss anything by not going to AUC.

From reading all of your latest posts greendogs, I don't think it would matter which carib. med. school you would have gone to, you would still be unhappy. The grass is always greener on the other side... But at least you didn't have to pay too much for it.

I agree that St. Martin is nice but it is very very expensive... Saba is a rock. It has one road called "the road," and a couple of villages, one located at the top, they call it "the top," the other on the bottom is called "the bottom". I think "the bottom" is the capital. I am very sure that you have never been to Saba.

dt makes a lot of good points. In light of the new campus, expansions, etc.. results are being made.. About the time frame for staffords, etc? I don't know. We would have to ask a current student or admistration. However, in light of recent news, it does seem like spartan is heading down the right road. I had a mostly good experience at spartan and so this obviously baises me.

I've been told that no school out of the U.S. that doesn't already have staffords will get that loan program, at least not for the forseable future, not with the current political climate in the U.S.

Thanks in advance for any info...

Yes, you did. At one time, Spartan had the Stafford loan. They lost it through sloppiness. And the administration had been telling the students that they have it back or are getting it back or whatever.

Firstly, I think the term "Big 3" can be misleading. Yes, they are big, they are old and established, but there has never been an official rating of Caribbean med schools in which AUC, Ross and SGU came in top 3. With that said, I think this thread is nonsense. Spartan is not as big, or as well established as the so-called "Big 3", and no individual should claim outright that their school is numero uno in some category that really doesn't exist.

For all prospective students, if you really want to find a good med school, do your research by visiting their websites, pay them a visit if possible, and pay attention to States of approval, USMLE pass rates, and Match rates. Choose the school that best suits your academic and financial needs and remain neutral to absurd claims such as the one by shockandawe.

Hockey time! Leafs are playing Game 7...it's do or die, so I shall take my leave.

top 3

AUC is always quoted in the top 3 with Ross and SGU. Saba is a great school and IMHO is a close fourth. The "Top 4" will emmerge when Saba gets 50 state approval. Staffords will never happen for Saba so it's useless to talk about that.

Right or wrong, those are the schools called "Top 3". I don't much like that term because it is arrogant and gives little credit to the other good schools. BUT, there are several reasons why this label sticks.

Having said that, my initial intent was to post what a useless thread this is. I can't believe I took the bait. Oh well, live and learn.

ripping students off..

stitches, I never said that spartan was "numero uno," I only pointed out 3 points that are better than the so called big 3. Is it fair that spartan students pay less and do the exact same rotations at some of the same exact places as the big 3? The big 3 are ripping students off. They don't have to charge so much.
