Financing of tuition

Wondering how those who attend SHSU are financing the tution payments and, considering the website says there are TERI loans, how the administration of the School is working towards changing the fact their are no loans. Thanks for the help

Its kind of a do it yourself thing right now. RuseMD, you have been on the boards for a little while now... if you can start without the loan I would just start (but be financially ready to complete at least your time on the island without loans).

From what I understand they are still working on loans, but nothing is a promise. It is hard to get loans right now and I am sure other schools are also having trouble with this. My advice (if it is feasible) is take out a private loan and get started. If you can deal with paying the monthly installments for your time in med school it should be worth it if this is what you want to do with your life.

agreed with specialk

No loans, mostly private or parent's help...do-it-yourself kind of job.

We are all facing this issue....sucks but dealing with it day by day....

Good luck

it is the cheapest in the Caribbean...a good deal.

same clinicals as Ross, AUA, St. Matts and AUC.

Not the cheapest....sorry

There are cheaper, but definitely not as expensive as the big 3.

There are benefits for the self-pay, and those on limited loans. If we had the money why would any of us go to the top 3 Caribbean when we could go to a US school for the same price. The price is a big factor in sweetening the deal to go to the caribbean school. My rationale is that you are an idiot going to the top 3 expensive caribbean schools when you could pay the same price to go to a US school.
Spartan and the other less expensive schools give you the same deal as the top 3 - Step 1, and US clinicals to level the playing field.
