teri response
I noticed on the Teri website that Spartan is not listed on their approved schools list. I e-mailed and asked if they loaned to Spartan students and why it was not listed on their website. I have not received a response. Their is a direct link on the 2008 Spartan catalog for Teri loans. If they are unable to receive loans, then they should let students know. This would make a big difference in my decision to attend Spartan. Let me know if you get any news

Teri Loan
Hello,
Spartan lost the teri loan, last year. I was there interviewing for the school and found they are no longer qualify for the teri loan. Most of the students there are from Nigeria and can not find a sponsor to do their rotation. Spartan is not a credited school on the AAMC or any listing. I asked all these questions to the staff that was interviewing me. And they acted like I was asking how they live behind close doors. Amazing the invasive answers you get, the one that was given to me was if you do not like what our program is don't come. Go someplace else, that is reverse psychology to make you feel intimidated. But, it is your life and career so go to where you KNOW you will be taught to be a DOCTOR. You are paying the teachers salary so choose WISELY. ALL THE BEST, Quote:

chi, you are incorrect. and you shouldn't post things that you assume. the school is accredited by the same institutions as the other carib med schools. NO carib med school is accredited by the ACGME which is an accreditation for american med schools.
please do not post things on this site that you do not understand. |

The main reason I chose to look into Spartan is b/c I work at a hospital in the US that actually had residents in Anesthesia that graduated from this school. My objective is to try and come back to do my clinical rotations here. I'm not sure if they allow forgien medical students to do clinical rotations here, but at least I'll be able to do a residency here if I choose to do so later. I find that these forums are full of people that really don't like forgien medical schools. Not just Spartan......all of them.

Teri Loans and NY site visit
Hi,
I am one of many spartan student in limbo due to cancellation of the Teri loans. I am just shy of 9th semester. I just heard from a very reliable source who stated that spartan will not be getting Teri back (for us US students), keep in mind that Canadian students are not affected, they are still eligible for Teri. Due to loss of teri for US students total class size this semester is 16. Also this source stated that spartan is going to be visited in July/August of this year by NY committee to get NY approval. If that happens, then that would mean we could essentialy do most if not all of our rotations at approved NY hospitals. |

Any info for US citizens
For those US students that will be attending Spartan; do you know of any bank or lender that is allowing US students to borrow? Please respond ASAP, this is the deciding factor on whether I will attend Spartan.

teri
if i was you i would carefully consider going to spartan. losing teri loans is really bad no matter what. it looks bad for the school and all i hear is bad things. i know 2 good sources that are there and one of them came back and they did like it and the other one does as well but the school makes you put out the money on your own. i think thats crazy. this is medical school.... So be careful in your decsion.
