Books

Hi,

As for the books we'll need, where should we get them...will Chapters or Indigo carry them? Also, the booklist that states which books are required and which ones are optional, would any present students advise on getting the optional ones..?

Thanks

required textbooks

Hi Sebastian,
You can buy the required textbook from Amazon.com (they only deliver to a US adddress). You can order them from Amazon.ca (but they tend to be more expensive). Do not buy the optional textbook. My friend told me to wait until I get to the island because students always sell their textbooks for ten, fifteeen, or twenty bucks. So if I were you, I would only buy the required textbooks for first semester. Also make sure you buy the BRS books (they are key for passing the USMLE).
Hope this helps.
I bought 11 books from Amazon.com and it cost me less than $100US including shipping which was $3.49 per book)..
Good luck

thanks for the response . Is amazon.ca the best option or just the cheapest?
Also, did you mean $1000 US or $ 100 US?

Thanks

amazon.com

Amazon.com is the cheapest option and you can get used textbook.
I bought 11 books for close to $100US (not $1000US).

Book book book

I am the first semester student. I just purchased all books for this fall this morning. I have a couple of questions.

Atlas of Human Anatomy's ISBN is 080892379X on the sheet, but I cannot find this ISBN number on neither amazon.com nor ebay.com. Does anyone have any idea about this problem?

BRS Gross anatomy 5th edition is coming out this September and I will end up buying this book in St. Lucia.

The developing human 7th edition IE has ISBN 0808922653 on the sheet, but I cannot find this ISBN on neither amazon.com nor ebay.com. Also, does anyone know what IE means.

Thank you in advance if someone is able and capable of answering my questions.

I am sorry for not getting to you sooner before you wasted your money....
Only certain books are required.....but what is your book list anyways?
the main ones you need are:
Guyton - Physiology
BRS -Behavioral Sciences
Anatomy -Dr. SRI is excellent - but the text used is trivial - some use Snell, some Grey's Anatomy
They have lab coats in the lab - so not necessary to bring one - unless you want a nice clean one to wear during WhiteCoat Ceremony

BRS Gross Anatomy

This book helps for Upper Limb which is taught by Dr. Ben.
The rest of Anatomy is taught by Dr. SRI
It is a great review/ guide.
