I think Spartan might have a chance to make major changes and at least be shoulder to shoulder with SMU[like approved/disapproved states etc] if on March 28 get again fully comparable to LCME standards, the committee meeting in Washington this Month to discuss 7 countries including Greneda,St Marteen,Domonica,St Lucia...etc,they approve countries not schools but if the country has high standards then all benefit. The Exc secretery told me St Lucia has limited approval pending more requested documents. That can also have an impact on the loan program.I have a feeling that the meeting will be positive since the ministry of health involved mainly not Spartan, all documents completed now and nothing any of you can do but wait.Good Luck March 28,2007 in Washington.

Thank you AsianDoc

Thanks for the info Asiandoc...

Can you please elaborate what do you mean by having positive impact on the schools on the islands mentioned?

What kind of positive things that can bring to the school(s) mentioned?

Thanks again!

Having the Dept of education in the US /committee on foreign medical school and after extensive paperwork review submitted by the ministry of health of involved countries ,the DOE certifying that such country medical education system is comparable to US/ LCME standards is big milestone and such info used to be the basis to get Stafford loans [when was offered]as well as helping in getting state recognition[positive point/as well as if you complaint to a state you always can say:St Lucia is LCME standard country with many Harvard grads!!!],St Lucia actually was fully approved but due to issues they limited the approval but wait and see what will happen in 3 weeks.
Spartan has great potentials but do not count on anything because I find it strange for any school that did not visit or update their website regularly[if you look at the website you find that they never update Alumni list since 2004!!!!yet they have hundreds of licensed grads./probably they do not want to spend a dime on marketing.

Nop,I graduated in early 80's and been practicing for about 22+ years and I am here just to share experiences, actually when I attended school they had no loans what so ever,I went to Univ Dominica[now Ross] with $20.000 saving and was gone in one year, the 3 or so schools were fighting with CA at that time and being a carribean student was not good at that time, you guys have it easy now.
