Thread: Pls advise for Step 2

Are there any good books that would guide through investigations and treatment, something like guidance for what to do step after step?

For example, the question describes rheumatic fever. We need to know initial investigation, next investigation, best investigation and so on, the same with treatment. Sometimes the disease is described fairly well (acute rheumatic fever), and they ask what is the next best plan of management. Choices include aspiration of the knee and treatment with antibiotics. In this case I am not sure whether to confirm the disease by knee aspiration, or treat right away since it is caused by group A Beta hemolytic strep.

I was informed that step up review was pretty good for step 2.

I might be getting the name a lil bit wrong but that is the general name.

I would suggest USMLE World in tutor mode plus a review book for CK. I didn't particularly use First Aid, but it isn't too bad. I preferred Crush and/or Secrets (same books essentially), but they are not as complete as Boards and Wards or FA, but UW is really, IMO, all you need.

For CS, First Aid and practice to get timing down are best.
