Can we talk about SGU vet program, too?

I was wondering if I could use this forum to address questions reguarding the vet program at SGU, or whether is was stickly for students in the human medical field? Is there a forum specifically for students interested in SGU vet medicine?

Question

I have no specific question at the moment. I was just wondering for future reference.

You know, I do have one. I have been accepted into the 2nd term of the 2nd year of the pre-vet program at SGU -- which means I have one and half years left until I can proceed into the vet program. If I wanted to proceed to get my bachelors degree, it would not take me any longer to complete the DVM degree? Because that fourth undergraduate year would count as my first year in vet school, correct? It's one in the same?

Dude, that's a tough one. The best i can do is have you PM me your email and i can pass along your question to a friend of mine who was in the pre-vet program. You're questions are actually more in the line of the undergrad program than they are for the vet school. your best bet is to call Bayshore and talk to someone there who handles this stuff, because you'll be lucky to find anyone here on the forum who has more than a educated guess in answering your questions.

Help for those interested in SGU vet school...

I completely agree with DemeterDVM....I would love if there were more posts or better yet, a separate forum for SGU's vet school....

Unfortunately, all of the answers to posts regarding the vet school usually involves at least one suggestion to "call the Bay Shore office"....but no one has any first-hand information...

I was just accepted to the vet school for August 2005 and it is very frustrating to not have the same outlet as the prospective medical students to voice their concerns and ask questions about the program, clinical rotations, etc. So, for those of us interested in the vet program, this forum can only help us in terms of what life is like on campus and on Grenada..and it ends there...

I sincerely doubt that this forum would be very popular for prospective students to the medical school if all of their questions were answered with...."Don't ask me....call and ask Bay Shore...."

Just my honest opinion....

I respect your opinion, but medical students tend to have information for medical school. Any information we may have about the vet school would have been acquired in passing or through friends - not first hand. So the best many of us can do is tell you to call Bayshore, because we don't possess the information you desire.

Honestly i know very little about the vet program, despite having quite a few friends in the school. I even know one of the 1st year professors. But i would be happy to pass any questions you have to them.

You made my point exactly...

My post wasn't attended to place blame on anyone on this forum but to make the point that current and prospective veterinary students do not have a forum in which to exchange information about the veterinary school. I think this is very unfortunate and a little ridiculous.....

To put into perspective for all of you (medical students)....how invaluable has this forum been for you in making your decision to come to SGU?? How much information did you acquire from this forum before coming down to Grenada?? Just imagine that none of your questions could be answered by current students...that is how I feel....
