Congrats on the starting SGU DVM! As for the emergency experience, the VTH is already pretty overbooked as it is very small and has only so much resources. I got the feeling that they didn't care too much about the 1st years. And from what I can see, grenada won't give you much exposure to emergency medicine as economics just doesn't allow people to seek care. Sure, there are the oddball europeans that have been stranded on grenada and do have a little more money but not by much.
Your best bet is to get involved with the student clubs and continue working at the emergency hospital back in the states during the summers. We get almost 3 months off for summer break. That is a golden opportunity to expand your vet experience.
