Kern isn't offered to the fall class anymore because they had a gpa and usmle min requirement (3.2 and 210 usmle), and wanted scores in before July (which is pretty impossible with not enough time for board preparation), so it is not only open for spring classes and only has 5-7 spots.

Providence is not an option any more because a US med school has requested to increase the amount of students that rotate there. These reasons are per the dean of clinical studies.

nor can you get LICH, or methodist- aug class has more choices for NY, jan class more in NJ

i dont know what happened to kern since im not there, but auc still has all of their slots with no minumum usmle or gpa requirements.

as far as providence, where i am currently located...... they stated that they were having problems with the administration of sgu. auc ended up getting double the amount of slots that they normally did this year after sgu dropped out of the hospital...... most of the new slots opened this year added to the july and september start dates.

currently, kansas city, michigan state, wayne state, and auc send their students to providence.

really? on the auc forum- it sounds as if kern is very difficult for the auc students as well.

now St John's in Detroit is the hospital that sgu students are going to- its part of the same system as providence-so who knows whats up with that.

Does anyone know if there is a GPA and/or USMLE minimum requirement to do rotations at any hospitals in NJ? I know that you have to pass the step 1 before you can start in NJ but are there any other minimums?
