Postponing step 2 cs...

Hey guys,

I have personal problem that may prevent me from taking step 2 cs in a month. The thing is that the next earliest date for ANY location is in November. Any idea of how much of a hindrance not having a cs score will be for residency application?

thanks.

depends on what you are going for and how many limits you are placing on yourself (only uni programs, geographical limitations, couples matching).

some programs will only look at completed applications and they define a completed application as one with all 3 scores (I, CK, CS), others may offer an invite after it is completed, still others will not care.

you will probably need to apply to more programs than you were thinking just to insure a decent number of interviews .

CS really doesn't take much effort, but it does require SOME effort....the people I know that failed CS (and yes people DO fail CS) generally thought the work they did in rotations was sufficient prep. Unless EM or FM are your current rotations and you have used them as practice sessions for CS, you will need to prep.

But 4-5 days with a partner and 1st aid is really enough.

IF you can take it- you should, BUT if you think you may not pass- WAIT!!!! You will get A LOT LESS interview invites with a FAILED CS score than an absent one.

I do beleive that slots for the 2cs do ocassionaly open up for closed dates as people canel their test date, Also if you are willing to travel some sites are easier to get dates then others.

hey RJ, have you already booked your CS? try to get on that, dates in January are already filling up, if you do it now, you'll be able to take your pick of slots whenever you want
