School Library/Faculty Reputation/Quality of Education/USMLE Exam/My Future, My Money
I am looking for an honest assessment from real student(s) (no moderator, no bullys, no administration, no staff/faculty please).
i) Are you satisfied with the current library facilities? ii) Are you happy with the current faculty memeber? Do you think you are getting up-to-date knowledge from qualified faculty in your school? iii) Do you think that your school is providing you the proper academic environment to prepare you for your profession? iv) Do you think your faculty have proven credentials and knowledge to prepare you for the USMLE exams and subsequent training during your Clinicals? v) Do you think that you are cheated out by the Medical school? vi) Do you think money was the main factor to go to off-shore school? vii) Would you go to a medical school with even lower standards and lower fees. I am trying to find the answers since I have asked these questions in other forums and it seems that getting right information is almost impossibe. Stay tuned. Mark |

Acutally, you've demonstrated that you don't want any honest assessments, when your questions are answers you accuse the responders of being shills for the school.
Do your own research - or try this school, it's probably best for you: http://www.spartanmed.org/html/messages.html

I think, from a spouse's perspective, that satisfaction is a very personal thing. One person may be totally satisfied with the library, another not so much. None of the students I've seen have the time for such an indepth interview such as you've posted. I would suggest that you do your own research Mark. Go to the school, see the library, meet the faculty, sit in on a class if that is allowed. Visit at lunch time and ask your questions. It sounds as if you want a very detailed analysis in order to make a decision. But you are basing everything on someone else's opinion, which can be very subjective. They are not going to have the same criteria as you do. Their evaluation will not be the same. If you have such in depth questions, you may wish to find out the answers yourself.

Your hostile attitude aside I do hope this helps.
Wow Kerrmd I'm going to just start off by saying that with the attitude that you've been displaying on these boards you're going to have a difficult time finding someone willing to take the time to address your concerns.
Myself I've never even visited SABA, but I am going to be a first semester student in May of this year and am excitedly getting myself prepared. I understand your anxiety about going to any medical school and realize that it is one of the most important decisions of your life so let me tell you what I found most useful. California requires that all foreign schools that have graduates seeking licensure in CA go through a very rigorous assessment including sending a team to investigate both the school itself and at least one of the school's clinical training sites. When I was researching SABA and other medical schools I used this website : http://www.medbd.ca.gov/Schools.htm to help me determine which school would be best for me to entrust my education. This http://www.medbd.ca.gov/Saba_Report.pdf is the site visit report for Saba. It contains a highly objective report on Saba. Also Pat Parks who works for the medical board of CA was extremely helpful. She really is the expert on offshore medical schools. So please check out the medical board of CA website, and please if you do decide to come to Saba leave your hostile attitude in the states Hope this helps. -Matt Last edited by DocSquatch : 01-24-2006 at 02:21 PM. |

I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm travelling with a miniature dachsund so I'm trying to figure out off campus housing my plan is to leave San Francisco April 30 and arrive May 1 but that may be cutting it too short. I'll see you on the island! I'm the 6'5" guy with a miniature dachsund and size 16 sandals (hence the Squatch part of my screen name). -Matt |
