    just interviewed (please help)

I was just interviewed. I think the interview went really well. He told me that my GPA was really impressive and everything else looked good. But, he commented on my poor MCAT scores. He suggested that I retake the test. I really don't want to sit through it again. Eventhough he commented on my MCAT, do you think I still have a chance of getting accpeted?

that makes no sense to me. if your application and GPA is that impressive...and the only thing you lack is the MCAT...you should still be a great candidate.

otherwise, if you had to retake the MCAT and score well...you'd probably take a seat at a US school. with "impressive GPA, credentials and MCAT to boot," doesnt it seem reasonable that you'd be in a US school?

nothing against saba or any other school in the caribbean...but i think most (not necessarily all) of us will concede that if we got into a US school, we wouldve went.

    MCAT

I was in a similar situation when I applied to Saba. I have a pretty good GPA, but a "not so hot" MCAT score. My interviewer just mentioned that I would probably want to spend extra time preparing for USMLE 1, since performance on the boards is somewhat reflective of performance on the MCAT. He also mentioned that isn't entirely true, with some of the best USMLE scores coming from students that did poorly on the MCAT or didn't take it at all. Just the fact that you studied for and took the MCAT says something.... you should be fine.

    in regards to Daniel's reply

Yes, he said I have an impressive GPA. I have a 3.75 in my sciences and a 3.68 overall. I didn't want to go to a U.S. medical school. I worked with 5 or 6 physicains who attended a medical school outside the U.S. I didn't even apply for a med school in the U.S. I would do anyting to fullfill my dreams of becoming a physicain and I don't think you should put down a caribbean med school. Oh, it is would have gone to a U.S. school, not would have went to a U.S. school.
